A chronology of world history lists important events, discoveries and civilizations from 9000 .

A chronology of world history lists important events, discoveries and civilizations from 9000 . Gr 4-8-By combining a fairly dry, annals-style time-line format with brief topical essays, Chisholm has created a volume likely to be as useful for teachers introducing a time period or geographic area as it is for student reports. The double-page chronologies are broken into columns for each geographic area included within a specific range of dates-for example, "The Ancient World, 1000-501 BC" features Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

This is definitely a reference book.

Feb 20, 2008 Sally rated it it was amazing. Shelves: for-kids, non-fiction, own. This is definitely a reference book. Each 2-page spread shows world events over a time period (hundreds or tens of years in ancient history, a decade in more modern times). There are also 2-page spreads devoted to particular events, like the French Revolution. I find it fascinating to compare what was going on in one part of the world to what was going on in the other. We usually study Western Civilization.

lets go baby
The book "World History Dates" has been released several times, and this review is for the one from about 1990; ignore Amazon's listed publication date. This book is basically a historical atlas geared towards avid readers of history of elementary school age. The book presents a history of the world from the early Bronze Age forward to the late 20th century. Events are laid out in chronological order, with equal space devoted to the major areas of the world; this being the Americas, Africa, Europe, Oceania and Australia, and Asia. Major empires, figures, trends, and historical periods are covered. Each topic comes with a small essay that covers the main points of who, what, when, where, how and why. As such, this book serves as both a good reference, and good bedtime reading material for those parents and children that prefer non-fiction. I've read through this book cover-to-cover several times when I was a kid, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
