Ellis Horowitz (Author), Sartaj Sahni (Author). The problem with almost all data structures books is - when is someone going to write one which is the ultimate desk reference - nothing is left for the reader to derive. ISBN-13: 978-0716782636. This book falls short also in that aspect. It covers all the necessary topics. Strong, but academic.
Fundamentals of Data Structures in Pascal. This book was the prescribed textbook for my data structures course. Reading it, however, was a very unpleasant experience. I found most of the discussions long, digressive and pedantic and of a nature that made you wonder after reading two pages what it was that the author started out to say in the first place. However, one plus point is that the algorithms are written in a simple enough pseudocode, and not in C or Pascal. But even so, the algorithms tend to be like the text - too notation-intensive and very difficult to follow.
Fundamentals of Data Structures by Ellis Horowitz and Sartaj Sahni. To describe a data structure in a representation independent way one needs a syntax. This can be seen at the end of section . where we also precisely define the notions of data object and data structure. This book also seeks to teach the art of analyzing algorithms but not at the cost of undue mathematical sophistication.

The primary goal of this book is to develop and implement object-oriented programs in C++ for complex data structures such as arrays, strings, lists, stacks, queues, trees, and graphs. These implementations rely heavily on the concepts of pointers, structures, classes, functions, overloaded functions, and overloaded operators.
