I have used this book when I was student, the first time I saw this book, I was very excited to get easy explanations with the help of vivid colorful illustrations and photos, this book seems like a computer magazine. good color printing on nice semi glossy paper. Do not buy this book for IFSM class 201 !! It is the shorter version of the class requirements. Apparently there is a 7 chapter book and a 9 chapter book, this is 7. Look at the number of pages and compare it. The one you really want has over 600 pages.

This book is excellent. I thought it was just another textbook and it isn't. This textbook contains links, websites, and other material that is beneficial in learning about computers and information technology. While it does not cover material in depth, it introduces the concepts behind the software and hardware. It's packed with facts and information that making learning very interesting. I am glad to have purchased this book, not just because I need it to complete a class, but it has valuable information that I can learn and improve my computer knowledge and skills.

I paid over $110 for this book. It has a slightly-thicker-than-regular-pages paper front cover. Over that paper front cover is a sort of plasticy printed sheet that is pasted to the aforementioned paper front cover. As soon as I received my "brand new" book, I saw that the cover was dogeared all around and, believe it or not, the plasticy printed sheet PEELED AWAY from the lower right corner of the paper cover!!

Too, frankly, the level of information and the outdated way it's presented in this book makes it absolutely NOT worth $110! It's like buying what looks like a Ferrari and paying the Ferrari price for it only to discover once you get it into your garage that it's really a vintage VW Bug with a fiberglass cover over it.

I'm returning this now that I've discovered that the Kindle version is available for rent for only $30 for 60 days. The only reason I got this book is because it is required reading for my college class, which I'll be finished with in less than 60 days. (The Kindle version is SEARCHABLE.)

This book is very well written and simple to read. I know quite a bit about computers and how fast things change with them. I also have many friends and family who have a wide range in knowledge when it comes to computers. I find it very amazing how much information is packed into this book and how simple it allows a person to "learn" while reading. You can choose particular topics to learn more about, or just read the entire book for an all around greater understanding of computers and electronics.

Great condition!

For a book based upon information technology, and published a few years ago, it offers strong foundation and relevant information on the history of computers. This book is a great resource for those taking DSST exams, such as myself!
