Party Crasher is filled with anecdotes of Tafel's encounters with people at all sorts of points on the political spectrum, such as the time that the radical group Queer Nation invited him to a college campus to criticize homophobic activities by members of the college's Young Republican chapter, or his perspective on the controversy surrounding the 1996 Dole presidential campaign's. rejection of a Log Cabin contribution. More than a book about gay politics or Republican politics, Party Crasher is a reminder that a few committed people, basing their actions in integrity, can still make a difference in the jaded world that American politics has become. Certainly that is a message that Americans need to hear. Результаты поиска по книге. Отзывы - Написать отзыв. Не удалось найти ни одного отзыва. Часто встречающиеся слова и выражения.

Party Crasher : A Gay Republican Challenges Politics As Usual. com User, June 9, 1999. Richard Tafel, the head of the Log Cabin Republicans tells his story, and while doing so breaks the stereotypical image we all have of a gay political activist. He confronts issues of intolerance while standing firm on his principals. He is not a Democrat. He does not advocate "special rights" for homosexuals. He does not ask for anyone's sympathy.

The platform of the Republican Party of the United States is generally based on American conservatism, in contrast to the modern liberalism of the Democrats. The party incorporates moderates, sometimes described as establishment Republicans, and members of the Tea Party or Freedom Caucus, who have been described as populist, right-wing, and far-right. The positions of the Republican Party have evolved over time.

A dilusional view of a person who thinks that, by sucking up to Republicans, he will eventually attain the quality he deserves.
Having said that (I've always wanted to say that about Tafel), it is a very good book. It's thought-provoking and a good read...even if you happen to 100%, totally, positively, without question disagree with every single solitary word in the book.
Get it, read it, make up your own mind...

Rich Tafel's book does not only tell about the need of bipartisanship to fight for our constitutional rights, it reveal that the most important cornerstone of our struggle lies in having morals and values. That we must believe in ourselves and our alienable rights, and have a healthy empathy for those who oppose us. Bottom line, it is not enough to win the politicians' heart, we must win the people's heart.
Tafel does an excellent job of providing personal stories of himself as well as others on how each of them struggle to come to term with their sexuality and their politics. He also illustrate the need of belonging and a sense of purpose that so many in the gay community need.
Party Crasher is a must read, especially those on the left fringe of the gay community.

Rich Tafel, in his book, "Party Crasher: A Gay Republican Challenges Politics as Usual," Speaks to all of us as gay men. His book has helped me identify my underlying needs for acceptance and sympathy. Rich Tafel tells a story that challenges us to question ourselves why we as gay men and women feel the need to label ourselves as Democrats. He teaches us the importance of having both parties involved in being responsive to the concerns of the gay community. Mr. Tafel's book is a must read for anyone who has an interest in politics and the gay movement in America

"PARTY Crasher" is more than just the experiences of Rich Tafel, it is the reality of being different for those choosing not to follow the path of least resistance. It demonstrates how the desire to "challenge politics as usual" can be a positive force in creating change. The book is a must for anyone willing to tread where others dare not or for those looking into what actually drives the inspired.

This book is a powerful, comprehensive alternative to the gay-liberationist political victim-obsessed, one-size-fit-all, identity-politics mantra and its Stonewall mythology. And it adds some much-needed inspiration, hope, real-politic, human and spiritual dimensions to the perspectives of cerebral, grumpy gay libertarians (like me). While I virtually worship Andrew Sullivan's eloquent and clarifying works, such as Virtually Normal, Rich fills in much that is missing in the expanding ideological sphere being staked out for gays who are independent thinkers and politically moderate or right-of-center. Rich is writing from the front lines and about the real world of politics and his daily interactions and engagement with activists from the theocratic right to the far left gay hegemony. Yet, he gives it transcendent meaning. Like parables, his personal stories about others and the recounting of his own experiences are powerful illustrations of moral attitudes and political and spiritual principles which independent-thinking gays need to guide their vision of equal rights--no more, no less--for gays. This is a blueprint for political diversity in the gay community. Free at last!

I found the book fascinating and true. As a gay Republican I found myself identifying with and agreeing with Richard's experiences and opinions. I, of course, will be calling my local Log Cabin chapter. Perhaps the most important aspect of the book for gay readers are the comments about how we need to take the moral high ground. There is a lot of work to be done because as a community we are not particularly concerned with morals and standards. Hopefully, more role models like Mr. Tafel will step forward. As our community grows and as we feel better about ourselves, time-honored principles will become more acceptable for us.

A worthy read and eye-opening book, Party Crasher leaves the reader with many thoughts about the gay liberal left and the radical right. You should send this book to every single Republican, Republican leader, and congressman you know.
Rich Tafel answered many of my questions as I struggled to figure out why I was still committed to the Democratic party. Tafel makes clear and cogent points about the differences between the Democratic and Republican parties and comes out on top every time. He gives evidence to the contrary that gay Republican is an oxymoron. This is a must read for anyone who cares about the political future of gays and especially for those who see morals and values not as buzz words used by the Right but a way of life that should not be anathema to the gay community.
