There's nothing racy or titillating here if that's what you're looking for. But if you want to immerse yourself in an exhaustively researched, profoundly thoughtful, passionately felt and determinedly fair and balanced- all the more remarkable given the brutal and centuries-long assault by one half of humanity against the other- this is required reading.

(It will likely aid your interest and acceptance if you should count yourself among the fortunate few who have experienced a foretaste of the divine in your own intimate encounters.)

I found this book inspirational and it converted me to the partnership model. It took me quite awhile to read it because the sentences were so long and packed with ideas and references that I couldn't find the main point of the sentence. I highlighted a lot to extract the main points. But partnership won the day, so I'm on to read more of the authors work. The work is hard but the reward is great.

This is the second in the Chalice and The Blade trilogy. It is an eye opening read for sure. It goes deep into the roots of the Consensus Reality we all suffer from and shows how this reality, this paradigm is upheld and enforced upon us by all the institutions we give our power away to- Governments, Religions, Schools, Associations, Tradition and Heritage institutions, etc. Not only does it lay out the problems, but the solutions to them as well. Fixing our brutal, self destructing world isn't rocket science, it's all about how we chose to see things, and that comes from the questions we ask. There are no sacred cows, there are no unthinkable thoughts, there are no un-askable questions. We need to question everything if we want to see the reality of our situation. Any time some person or some institution doesn't want you to ask a question, or won;t answer, you know they're hiding something. So why do we let our institutions, which we pay for and are supposed to Serve Us get away with secrecy? There should be absolute transparency in our institutions, yet they are basically opaque. This book will help you ask some of the big, important questions in life, and that is sorely needed in this shallow, consumerist trash heap we call modern society.

I would also suggest checking out thevenusproject(dot)com for even larger perspectives on how we can change our world for the better.

After having read the Chalice and the Blade...I wanted more and this was just what the waiter would have ordered to satisfy my appetite. An excellent read and delves so much deeper into the subject matter and in retrospect you must admit that Eisler was SPOT ON in all that she predicted about where we would be if we did not change...

AN eye opening, often times, gut wrenching wake up call. Well worth the effort to keep on reading, and sometimes I needed to take a few days break to digest. This book has helped me to realize what I've been doing to myself and others and why. The author does a fantastic job of bringing ancient history, recent history, modern times and myth together, to show the roots of violent behavior and why we have been at war with our own bodies. It's really about getting to know yourself again and loving yourself and others.

This book is absolutely fascinating, articulate and brilliantly well researched. A must - read for anyone who desires to free themselves from the societal & mental shackles that hold them regarding sexuality and what it really means to be alive.
Outstanding good book. Good condition as described.
