Vidya Frazier’s book, The Art of Letting Go: A Pathway to Inner Freedom (Blue Dolphin Publishing), is an example of what can happen when a transforming experience is allowed to ripen and unfold over time. It's always helpful to have another voice juxtaposed to those which praise a book -- because, there will always be individuals, like myself, who will not resonate with its content.
I read the amazing introduction to The Art of Letting Go -- about great spiritual experiences had by the author, and wondered if she could possibly tell us how to have such moments (or glimpses of Self, as she calls them) of ecstatic realization. Being a natural skeptic, I doubted whether her experiences were real or imagined, or made up; but I cannot judge on that point. I don't know, and must take her word on face value. Unfortunately though, the way she instructs the reader on letting go becomes too cluttered with psychological approach -- with do this and don't do that. It becomes too "mindy" for me. Admittedly, what she is trying to convey is not so much technique as it is art (hence, the title). It's just that the art of this is lost a bit in the attempt to translate spirit into idea. Again, this may work for some.. It did not work for me.

Excellent book to help you release attachments that no longer serve you.

Now, I'm about the most skeptical person when it comes to "self help" books, but this one was recommended by my holistic therapist friend. You have to get into about page 70 before you get your "ah-ha" moment. But this book definitely had an effect on my life and I've since passed it on to at least 5 others who said the same thing.

This book is amazing so far. It's even better than I expected it to be. I'm less than half way through.

Too preachy, old time approach i.e. think of a word and repeat to yourself over and over. Not my style. Too full of herself.

The Art of Letting Go: A Pathway to Inner Freedom
By Vidya Frazier (Blue Dolphin Publishing, 2002)

In The Art of Letting Go, Vidya Frazier brings enlightenment down from the lofty, mysterious heights where only a few select people might ever go to the ordinary, everyday realms where most of us live. Her warm and friendly style is encouraging and validating, and the exercises and meditations she offers are invaluable. They help us to realize that our awakened self--far from being something we might possibly discover in the distant future--is already very much alive within us and surprisingly easy to reach. At long last, we have a feminine approach to enlightenment--soft, heartful, and embracing of human frailty--yet profoundly ringing of truth.Anthea Francine, M.A., C.P.P.C. I have been on a spiritual path and into nonduality for many years. I found the exercises in this book extremely valuable. I experienced what I refer to as an "ego shift" where no one existed here but consciousness. The bliss of the inner freedom is worth any price, and certainly the price of this book. I also have used these exercises and others with my clients and they also experience inner shifts and more freedom. This is a simple path to spiritual growth and freedom.
