In Got Your Attention?, Horn teaches you how to get – It takes more than a clever title and a tagline to connect with people. She’s not the only one. Sam Horn is known as an Intrigue Expert. She’s the author of Got Your Attention?:How to Create Intrigue and Connect with Anyone. She speaks all over the world about how to make your message memorable with incredible stories that come to life. She says that you shouldn’t tell someone what your story is, instead, ask them something like, ‘did you know?’, and once you get people to start thinking about facts and things they didn’t already know, you have them imagine it. From there you don’t have to imagine it anymore, it comes to life.

You don't have to imagine it, Sam Horn has created it. Sam's innovative techniques have helped her clients close deals and raise millions of dollars and will be your secret sauce to getting funded, hired, elected, promoted or referred. Издание: 1. Издательство: Berrett-Koehler Publishers.

A few very clever people can turn a simple truth into a career. Sam Horn is one of them. Walking the well-worn path trod by Dale Carnegie (How to Win Friends and Influence People), Horn — who is a she, by the way — has crafted a useful little handbook for anyone in the business of communication. Got Your Attention? is a user-friendly, latter-day updating of Carnegie’s 1936 classic. It’s more in tune with today’s impatient strivers. And the world would be a whole lot better place if everyone read this book and heeded Horn’s call to listen more and talk less.

In the field of fundraising — my specialty for three decades — it’s often said, “If you want advice, ask for money. If you want money, ask for advice.” Although she never touches on this particular point, Horn makes this lesson clear enough in her clever little handbook.

Sam Horn loves mnemonic devices. The word “intrigue” in the subtitle is an acronym that sums up the contents of the book:

I: “Craft an INTRO that has people at hello.”
N: “Create the next NEW thing.”
T: “Win trust by being TIME-EFFICIENT.”
R: “If they can’t REPEAT it, they didn’t get it.”
I: “Don’t just inform, INTERACT.”
G: “GIVE attention first.”
U: “If it isn’t actionable, it isn’t USEFUL.”
E: “Don’t tell stories, share real-life EXAMPLES.”
There’s a great deal of wisdom in all this advice, and it’s all presented in snappy, conversational style. Several other acronyms appear in the book — perhaps a few too many. However, as the author states at the outset, “there are ways to overcome people’s impatience, alienation, and chronic distraction, and this book teaches them.” Amen.

Sam Horn, who bills herself as “the Intrigue Expert,” has written nine other books on the art of effective communication (although I don’t recall coming across that word in this book!). Got Your Attention? is a worthy addition to the narrow shelf of personal development books that are actually worth the paper they’re printed on.

I encourage you to read "Got Your Attention?: how to create intrigue and connect with anyone" by Sam Horn.

It is filled with practical ways to gain and keep another person’s attention. We live in a distracted world, and it’s essential to be intriguing. This book is 190 pages of direct, specific ways to get another person’s attention quickly and keep it for the long term.

This book has sizzle and steak. The sizzle consist of easy-to-remember approaches like “Ask ‘Did You Know’ Questions”, “Show Them The Fish”, and “Keep It Brief or They’ll Give You Grief”. It also is packed with useful and memorable quotes.

The steak is that it provides the reader with a repeatable process for getting the attention of your buyer immediately and then keeping that relationship over the long term.

I think Got Your Attention? is an extremely valuable and practical book for anyone wanting to improve the direction and sustained success of their organization.

This is a terrific book packed with relevant, immediately applicable tools. Sam Horn is not only a brilliant author and consultant but able to translate her wisdom to the page. We readers are the lucky ones who benefit from her secret sauce. By bringing in analogies, practical tips like" the phrase that pays" and the Seven P's of Disruption the author forces us to shape and refine our communication so that others will take notice. You will also love the quotes that pepper the pages of this resource. Thank you Sam Horn for another non-disputable winner!

Her new book, Got Your Attention? is packed with incredibly valuable insights and strategies for the simple task of being an effective communicator. You can't go wrong reading this book by Sam Horn, who is in my opinion, the best communications guru in America. Got Your Attention? is her best yet, and encompasses some ideas from her earlier amazing book: Tongue Fu. I bought both the Kindle e-book and paperback versions because of their excellence. I recommend her writings to everyone in my communications classes because of her fun, practical, down-to-earth ideas and communication tips. Her "non-elevator speech" tips alone are pure gold. Reading Sam Horn can instantly benefit anyone who speaks, writes, and meets for a living.

The way you should judge any business book is does it give you actionable, real world advice that gets results. This book does. It has made a massive difference to my business again and again. Better networking conversations, better selling through listening first, better structure in my keynotes, I could go on and on - this book really has made a difference to my income again and again. Incredible advice in such an engaging format. Just brilliant, thank you Sam!
As an entrepreneur, professional career coach, and coach trainer, I continue to tune into what Sam Horn says. When she speaks, I listen. In fact, the ideas in Got Your Attention have informed the way I present what I do to potential clients at networking events and even on my website. The results speak for themselves - before Sam, I'd drone on and on about what I do. Now I use simple strategies that cause what I'm saying to connect with whoever is listening. This book is worth it's weight in gold.
