Attention and focus are exceptionally rare in today’s digital age. You can only do effective and productive work if you know how best to manage your energy, time and attention. Attention works much like a muscle: use it poorly and it can wither; work it well and it grows. Here is the long quote to help you appreciate the context of his statement. Our actions may be impeded, but there can be no impeding our intentions or dispositions. Many people can’t follow through on the things they really want to achieve in life because they are obsessed with the big picture, instead of keeping an eye on the crucial, tiny daily actions. Consistent action coupled with time guarantees lasting progress.

By failing to pay attention to what actually happens in each moment, we. .There is also The Mindfulness Colouring Book, part of a bestselling subgenre in itself.

By failing to pay attention to what actually happens in each moment, we get lost in regrets about the past and fears for the future, which make us unhappy. Kabat-Zinn, who is often labelled the father of modern mindfulness, calls this a thinking disease. But because what it offers is so easily assimilated by the market, its potential for social and political transformation is neutered.

Whether you realize it or not, there's a battle going on all around you every day — for your attention. Advertising jingles, persuasive images, text messaging, the Internet, and television are the weapons of choice, and your mind is the battlefield. And the stakes are high. These modern distractions can devour your time yet leave you hungry for greater meaning in your life. Who will win?

This book really made me take a step back and look at my life and how I have wasted a lot of it with meaningless task that I don't even enjoy. It teaches you to pay attention and devote your time to the things that really matter. I highly recommend this book for anyone who like myself leads a hurried life or feels like they have forgotten what brings them joy. Buy this book!!

I liked this book because it deals with the issues and problems people have to deal with every day. It is spiritual without being preachy and
psychologically astute without psychobabble.

It helps people think about their goals, the quality of their lives, and ways to enrich their lives. The suggested activities are practical and useful.

Such a great book.

This book covers an important aspect of Mindfulness that is tamely at this time. They cover all adjacent matters. It is perhaps a little wordy, but that is the nature of the subject.

To be honest, I had misperceived it to be a self help book full of tactics, skills and tools that helps me focus and perform better in my daily work. In fact, this is a highly spiritual book, very strategic, riding heavily on the ideas of Thich Nhat Hanh and Thomas Merton, promoting a zen (not necessarily Buddhist) style of life. Anyway, I found it helpful and enjoyable, especially those sections on Mindfulness. In short, recommended!

"staying focused" is a wonderful, practical guide. It invites into the "reflecting pool" of your life and choices and offers a real life plan for making the changes that will bring you closer to the things that matter most. A wonderful read!
