The book is also very good at being set up for not only self learning (there is even a hypothetical syllabus for one to use in the beginning of the book), but it's also designed to be a 1 semester classroom book for a Junior/Senior level Linear Algebra class. All in all, this is a FANTASTIC book.

Preface This book helps students to master the material of a standard US undergraduate first course in Linear Algebra. Another standard is books audience: sophomores or juniors, usually with a background of at least one semester of calculus.
My ideal linear algebra textbook would: Include plenty of motivating examples. But don't be fooled by the price: Hefferon's book is better than most of the expensive tomes sold in college bookstores. Show how to solve real-world problems. Everything in Hefferon's book is superbly motivated. The first chapter begins with two real-world examples: Unknown weights placed on balances, and the ratios of complex molecules in chemical reactions. These examples are used to introduce Gauss's method for solving systems of linear equations.
