Originally it wasn't going to be a series, but as time went by more ideas involving the same flock of characters continued to arise, bringing out the books 'Shades of Gray', 'Devirian Revlis', 'Lock and Key', and now 'Ragged feathers'. Shannon Neprily's Blog.

For he is a Forger, a creature that can create weapons from within his very self, pushing them out from the palms of his hands at will. He is supposed to be with his brother Rokan, the Wielder, and together they should be fighting the foes of humanity-whichever beings they are at the time. But circumstances have divided brother against brother. Rokan has been lured to the side of the demons, who promise that Aridan will finally be free of human masters and cruelty, if only he will join them. Continue with GoogleContinue.

I love the book The Forger by Shannon Neprily. So I have to make as many fanfictions as I can to fill in all the scenes I would've liked to have seen!Hee! : I just love Torian and Sevron, they're such a funny couple.

Hastening after me, Miss Law breathed my name-I had at least broken her of the habit of addressing me as Doctor, a title which, with its implications of professional mediocrity, I at this stage thoroughly resented. The pads of paper I’d bought were heavy and dusty on my lap. They gave out a smell like an attic in the summertime. A man and a young girl got on at Château Rouge. a black check pattern woven into it. The little girl, who was about three years old, had on a black velvet dress and black patent leather shoes. On one hand she wore a white glove. The other hand was bare. I guessed she had lost the other glove and that her father had not yet noticed

For thousands of years demons and humans have warred against each other for dominance. The cries of the humans spread over the land, reaching the ears of hovering angels who were forbidden to aid. Breaking their pact with the demons a small group of angels combined their powers to form a creature called the Forger. The Forger was built with a gentle mind and sensitive demeanor, allowing him to decide which side was justified through the abuse he would suffer over the years. Time and time again the Forger has been killed only to be reborn. Now, after having been hidden away for hundreds of years the new Forger, Aridan has to decide which is the lesser of the two evils, the humans who have murdered him in past lives or the demons that tormented him in this life.

This book is extremely imaginative, with unique and engaging characters that follow a plot that is wholly unseen before and unlike any other fantasy books I've read before. The author has a wonderful imagination and I can't wait to read the next installment to find out what happens next!

In a world where mythological creatures and humans live side-by-side, Aridan stands out in a way that is far too different for comfort. Humans fear him for his looks, other mythological creatures desire him or detest him, depending on their upbringing, and demons want him for his unique powers.

For he is a Forger, a creature that can create weapons from within his very self, pushing them out from the palms of his hands at will. He is supposed to be with his brother Rokan, the Wielder, and together they should be fighting the foes of humanity–whichever beings they are at the time. But circumstances have divided brother against brother.

Rokan has been lured to the side of the demons, who promise that Aridan will finally be free of human masters and cruelty, if only he will join them. He is convinced that he is doing Aridan a favor by letting himself be the bait in the demons’ trap. Aided by human betrayal, and as the Forger comes closer to his own death and rebirth, the demons come closer and closer to where Aridan hides.

But he has many in his camp who would willingly lose their own lives to save his. Not the least among these are Sevron, his appointed Protector; Torian, a voracious demon-eater; and Rowan, a Dream Dweller.

These and others go to great lengths to protect Aridan, to hide the woman who carries his new body within her, and to destroy the portal that the demons are using to get into this world.

Angels, vampires, werewolves, demons, humans, and others not so easily definable divide up and confront each other. The fate of the Forger, and the future of humanity, lies in their hands.

“…You can use the new strength you have gained to show yourself that no one can drown you without you laying down and allowing it! You’re stronger than you were back then, stronger than any Forger ever. Don’t worry about the little things, Sevron and I will take care of than. If anyone tries to hurt you, I’ll eat them, okay?”–Torian

Now, that is true friendship. Makes me wish I had a demon-eater around, too.

Here is a book that really and truly deserves to be read without distraction from other story lines. Read this on its own, I cannot stress that enough. Ms. Neprily’s characters are incredible, and their lives intertwine each other like fine mesh.

The mythological world that the average reader knows about is set on its ear in this story. We have angels banned from eternity for interfering between demons and humans, vampires and werewolves that fight for mortals, angels in the role of bad guys…truly an ingeniously-written book.

I had written up a page and a half of notes, but find I must discard them. No scribbles of mine could ever do this book justice. I found it compelling, and it only got better when I re-read it in places to clarify relationships. You see, I was reading several books at once–this is how I know that “The Forger” is a stand-alone, read-alone story.

If you like mythological creatures and fantasy, along with some romance, you will love this book.

This is a strange story about the warring between demons and humans that has been going on for centuries. Only being allowed to observe and not able to aid in anyway, the angels group together and create `The Forger' a being, neither good nor evil, whose purpose is to choose the side he feels is worthy and help to end the war. In this book we follow a group of demon hunters as they try to protect mankind against the most recent demon threat, while the forger in his latest form has to decide whose side he is on.

I have mixed feelings about this book, I liked it, it is fairly well written and has some great characters, especially Aridan, an unusual childlike creature who is soft of heart and quite loveable. But on the flip side I found it slow and kind of repetitive, different words but the same information. Although there is action, it isn't what I would call `an action packed story,' it has a lot of down time, which slows the pace for me.

The characters were three dimensional, and I was able to connect with them, I became quite emotional during certain scenes. The whole idea was unique, I found the creation of `The Forger' original, the things he could do were fascinating and I liked the way he wasn't really complete on his own, he was part of a whole and needed his brothers to help him.

I'm not sure if this is the first of a series or a `stand alone' book. I felt this particular chapter was closed but we were left with an ending that would make it possible to follow on with further stories.

Let me start by noting I normally read books with a strong romance background. This book doesn't really have any romance. While there are couples and pregnancy mentioned the storyline isn't about the romance. The story is about a supernatural creature who can create weapons from his live force to be used by his twin to defeat the demons who are attacking humans. There are many supernatural characters and a few were new to me, vampires, angles, forgers, wielders, demon eating creatures, etc. All had different powers and were working together to defeat the humans. The main character, the Forger, was near the end of his life. Will he defeat the humans before he dies? Will he release his partially human helpers so they stay immortal after he dies to help him in the future when he is reborn? Will he be reborn or will the demons find Juanita and kill her before she gives birth? If you love science fiction this is a book for you!
