Last night I dreamed I went to Manderley again. The little heap of library books marked ready to return, and the discarded copy of The Times

Last night I dreamed I went to Manderley again. It seemed to me I stood by the iron gate leading to the drive, and for a while I could not enter, for the way was barred to me. There was a padlock and a chain upon the gate. I called in my dream to the lodge keeper, and had no answer, and peering closer through the rusted spokes of the gate I saw that the lodge was uninhabited. The little heap of library books marked ready to return, and the discarded copy of The Times. Ashtrays, with the stub of a cigarette; cushions, with the imprint of our heads upon them, lolling in the chairs; the charred embers of our log fire still smoldering against the morning.

Lucasse Koltz can't get a date thanks to his embarrassing family. His father, the village mad scientist, disappeared into another dimension after creating his own personal black hole. His blue-haired sister can show visions of things happening in other places. Naturally, no one takes Lucasse seriously either, but he is determined to win fame and fortune after setting out to save the world from its latest trouble, a future dictator. It turns out that the world is in no real danger, until Lucasse accidentally releases an ancient curse that sends the moon on a crash course with the planet. The only person capable of resealing the curse is the Guardian of the World, but he has been missing for years! Now Lucasse must embark on a quest to find the missing Guardian, or the world is doomed. Between Lucasse's arrogance and his ragtag sidekicks, the chances of saving the world look slim. His sister insists on using a badminton racket as a weapon, and the magician Lucasse hires is allergic to magic. To top things off, someone out there wants to stop Lucasse from breaking the curse, and that person turns out to be a shadow from his past.

quite good

This book is unlike most books of today. It is a book that a grandmother can read to their grandchild and no one will get embarrassed. It has great flow and readability. It keeps you guessing all the way through to the end. It has some characters that you can't help but love and some that you just can't help feel disgust for. I really like how this book uses Murphy's Law throughout.
Golden Lama
In the typical sword and stone type story there is a young boy who born in obscurity and is usually orphaned, then makes a discovery about themselves and saves the world. Well while Lucasse's position fits the mold his actions do not. He is self centered and only is interested in impressing girls that he deems worthy. Instead of saving the world from a mysterious villain, he curses it, but fortunately for Lucasse he ends up with a group of friends (sort of) who stay with him until the end.

Ms Linam develops a fun light story with an interesting cast. She also teaches you how to get blood from a turnip and that you should always keep a calculus book handy for defense. I would recommend this book for all those who enjoy the swords-and-horses fantasies but want something a bit different.

With each page, the interest, tension, and mystery build. This is an enjoyable twist on the traditional save-the-world fantasy. The Journey of the Nightisans does not disappoint.

This was certainly an adventure like no other. While the plot had elements I could easily identify their sources, the way Linam used them in this story was truly unique. If you like JRPG classics with an American twist, you will like this story.
Zut
This is a rolicking romp through a magical world, multiple dimensions, and the mad scientist personality type. The author turns the traditional "save the world" quest and turns it on it's ear, in this humorous spoof on fantasy novels.

I highly recommend this book.

The Journey of the Nightisans is a refreshing contribution to the fantasy genre. It is wholesome enough to be enjoyed by children and engaging enough to hold the interest of an adult. This would be a wonderful read-aloud book for family night. The offbeat humor and wacky situations make this story an entertaining read.
I got this book and got the author to sign it at a book signing! This book is so good. I haven't read it in a while and I still remember how good it was. It is a story that I can read to my son and enjoy with him. It is thoughtful and extremely funny!
