A wonderful book, and thankfully only the first of a series of three. Have read them all and loved them. These characters are very believable, truly enjoyable, and the emotions, fears and doubts so well written that I was feeling those emotions with them. Loved the evolution of the secondary characters, and the aunts are truly fun and wonderful. Wouldn't mind a book about the aunts, either being romanced, or investigating a mystery. This book, as good as it was, could have used a stronger female character, but I liked how she tried to take control of her fate in the beginning, just didn't quite see that same degree of strength in character throughout the book, of course that was in respect for her aunts. Read and enjoy, and then read the other two books in the series.

I loved the maiden aunts! They turned out to be so different than what Catherine was expecting and I fell in love with Phillip. For once we have an uncomplicated hero for a change. So many novels portray the male as a desolete rake and the heroine has to cause him to turn his life around. In this story it's bit of the other way. While Catherine was certainly not wanton, she was afraid she was. Because she had felt unloved by her family, she didn't believe she deserved love. Some of her reasoning did sound a bit silly, but regardless, I found this a delightful read and the best of the three in the series.

This story had a plot and good characters. The villian the father, the hero Philip and the beautiful Catherine as the main focus. i enjoyed the descriptions of the scenary and this was a good story even though at times it was dragged out a little more than necessary. The other characters in the story, especially the aunts and the children, added to help keep the plot interesting. I didn't give it a 5 star as sometimes the story stalled and went in a different direction, but all and all it was an interesting evening reading entertainment.

The story is sweet and a quick read. The heroine is one of those cant get it right types that prevail in regencies.

The hero in this story is so infinitely patient he seems unreal. But overall this story is a good one. I'd like to see more from this author.
