Keil and F. Delitzsch, Professors of Theology.

Keil and F.

Although written in the nineteenth century, its age does not limit it in any significant way. It is still a valuable resource today. This is followed by a fairly detailed verse-by-verse explication of these books, stretching some 1500 or so pages. This is a rough approximation.

Translated from the German ed. of K. F. Keil and F. Delitzsch. Delitzsch ; tr. by James Martin - : Joshua, Judges, Ruth, .

It is popular with conservatives because of its theology. But its sharp insights mean it is by no means just conservatives who find it helpful-it is not uncommon, for example, to see it cited in the bibliography of an academic study. Franz Delitzsch (1813–1890) was a German theologian and Christian Hebraist. He taught theology at the University of Rostock, University of Erlangen, and University of Leipzig.

This book may have occasional imperfections such as missing or blurred pages, poor pictures, errant marks, etc. that were either part of the original artifact, or were introduced by the scanning process. We This is an EXACT reproduction of a book published before 1923. Keil was born at Lauterbach near Oelsnitz, Kingdom of Saxony, and died at Rätz, Saxony.

The Keil and Delitzsch commentary on the Old Testament is a classic in the field. Although written in the nineteenth century, its age does not limit it in any significant way. It is still a valuable resource today. The first volume of this edition covers the Pentateuch and contains what were originally three volumes. (These three volumes were: Genesis through Exodus Ch. 11; Exodus Ch. 12 through Leviticus; and Numbers and Deuteronomy.) The commentary begins with a fairly brief though useful discussion of the five books of Moses. This is followed by a fairly detailed verse-by-verse explication of these books, stretching some 1500 or so pages. (This is a rough approximation.)

Although the commentary is accessible enough that anyone can benefit from using it, a working knowledge of Hebrew and Greek would be useful, as there are a number of references throughout that are in untransliterated Hebrew and Greek. So, I would recommend this first and foremost for the more advanced student of Scripture.

This commentary set is, in my opinion, one of the most comprehensive, stimulating and accurate editions I have ever used for Old testement study. I highly recomend it.
