I think this book will be very, very useful to any mom who is first returning to the workplace. While it definitely will be useful to all working moms, I have a feeling that the longer you have worked, the less likely it will be you will find really useful pointers in this book. However, if you're about to go back to work, you've got to read this book. Personally, I have been working for 4 years after having my kids, so I didn't really find the beginning chapters on organization all that helpful. I had already figured a lot out myself. That being said, I really wish I had seen those chapters 4 years ago, they would have saved me a lot of time and aggravation. What I did find helpful was her hints on how to handle kids being in school, something I have recently started to experience. Those chapters made me feel like I am not the only one facing the problems I am facing. What I found really important, and what I fear a lot of working moms don't focus on is the last chapter in the book, the chapter dealing with taking care of yourself. She lets you know it's ok to get a facial, a manicure, a massage, if you can do it, because as a working mom, you deserve it.
As I said above, this is a terrific book. If you have been out there working for a while, you probably know a lot of these things Goldman discusses in her book, but in that case, buy the book and give it to a coworker or friend who is just returning to work. She'll thank you for it immensely.

I wholeheartedly agree with abloome below. This book offers absolutely nothing other than "pay anyone you can to do it for you." It also assumes that by "working mother" you are the CEO of a very large corporation, work from morning until night and never have a spare second. The alleged helpful hints in this book are things like this: Get you and your child's belonging together the night before so you are not running all over the house looking for stuff in the morning. NO KIDDING.
Unless your life is a total disaster area, this book will not tell you anything you don't already know. It is very simplistic and honestly, annoyed me.

I am a working mother with a one year old daughter. I commute 3 hours a day, work full time and go to school.
I was very disappointed in this book. I was hoping for some hands on practical tips to balancing motherhood and work. The author's solution to challenging problems is to hire someone else, which I can't afford.
If you really want some good advice go to BlueSuitMom.com or buy an organizational book to help you get more organized. You will save tons of time and be happier.

I found this book an easy read and very helpful. The suggestions and solutions provided by the author as well as other working moms are refreshing and workable. For what ever age your children are there are ideas here that can actually be used by most working moms. I keep this book handy for a quick reference. I'm glad I purchased this one.
