I am going to be returning this book. I have been a vital docs/legal docs translator for 18 years. This book is larded with difficult to understand jibberish. All of it educational jargon. This is a college text, for sure, but it is not for me as a translator. I can see the possible use for translating literature or news articles, but not for what I do.

I was a little disappointed by this book. It put technical words to concepts I already knew and had been practising in my translations. I wanted to be introduced to new ways of looking at the text. But I've found that simply practice has taught me better. Perhaps this book would better suit those who are very new to translation, or are not themselves writers in the field they're translating.
