Professor Petry's book, "Pathological Gambling: Etiology, Comorbidity and Treatment" is outstanding. The depth of knowledge and her foundation of statistical research makes this book very helpful in understanding the extent and severity of pathological gambling in the US. I found the lesson plans for her 6 week treatment approach to be particularly helpful. The accompanying DVD (available through the American Psychological Association Press) is also excellent. I found that the book and the DVD greatly helped my course on Problem Gambling for substance abuse counselors at UMass Boston.
