Book speaks of Theories that are applied in social work practice. This is, I believe, the latest version of the book, older ones are missing a few of the newer theories. I love this book because it covers a variety of theories used in social work treatment. I am appreciative of this book because it shows professionals how to implement the theories into practice, which is a core competency for social workers. This book was required for school, but I kept it because it is so useful and helpful when learning how to implement theories.

His book on the adolescent personality is still worth reading for its content and for its methodology (Blos, 1941). For all his brilliance he was an immensely practical man. During my third year in the agency I got a supervisor who was doctrinaire about psychoanalytic theory. The Fred Berl Manuscript Collection is in the Archives of the Butler Library at Columbia University in New York. There is a scholarship in his name at the Haifa University School of Social Work. This fund is slowly growing and soon will provide tuition for a whole year.
