I bought this book to prepare for board recertification. As you move through the book, you encounter many typographical errors -- some amusing (as when it talks about the "civility of the dependence" when actually meaning the "severity of the dependence," and others just plain perplexing. There are several typographical errors in answers that are misleading, although I guess sorting the whole thing out serves as studying in its own right. Also, I found many questions that were very esoteric and unhelpful. Having passed the boards the first time around, I can attest that some of these questions just plain are not there. Overall, I would give this a "C" rating, and can't recommend it highly -- but it's moderately useful, if you read carefully.

Some errors in questions. I guess, good to practice for PRITE, although the standard of PRITE questions have been changing recently.

Very good book. There are some printing errors on the answers and be careful about that. It will be great if they include more psychotherapy questions. This book will certainly improve ones grades.

This book is good for one reason--it has several questions that are high yield.
However if you buy this book from my own experience, and I did double check the answers for several of the questions, about 1 out of 30 questions in this book are wrong, or in my opinion highly questionable as the correct answer. There are also a few spelling errors which make you wonder just how much attention was put into the book. Several of my colleagues after finding the a few wrong answers dumped this book.
Aside from the wrong answers, its not a bad book, just not the best book out there. I can't name the book that I thought was the best on this review because by Amazon's rules, it would prevent this review from being published. The best book I've seen with sample questions gives better explanations (about 4-6 sentences per answer choice), while this book only gives about 1-3 sentences, with little discussion as to why the wrong questions are wrong.

I am 2 weeks from the MOC now and bought this book at my review conference for extra question practice. I have NEVER seen a book with so many errors!! From questions that are repeated twice in a chapter, questions that have 2 options that are exactly the same, many questions that have 2 options that are the exact opposite, many many questions whose answer key does not correlate to the correct letter of the answer even tho you can tell what the right answer is by the explanation, to answers that are given to a question worded "what is true" and you realize the answer is for "what is NOT true"…. What were these doctors thinking??? I would love to hear from them as to how in the world this book was allowed to be published in their name. Was it that accidentally their draft got published instead of the final edition? Lippincott and these doctors should be COMPLETELY embarrassed and Im pissed that you wasted my time and money

As long as you realize that there are enough errors in this book to keep you on your toes, its ok. Just be sure you check every single answer, or you'll be in trouble.
