I have bought 2 of the Prentice Hall Reviews and Rationales series (I also own the Med-Surg book) and I will continue to purchase them. There are pretest questions, an important terms section and a post-test that are great for learning. The rationales are easy to understand while explaining why the other options are wrong (something all inquiring minds usually want to know).
This book gives you all the tools you need to pass your exams. You even get priority nursing diagnoses and interventions. However.......you must not rely solely on this book unless you have photographic memory and are a highly skilled critical thinker. Reading, videos and power points should also be used in order to adequately prepare for those pesky 'best' answer questions but overall, you could essentially 'pass' your exams if all you had time for was this book.

"Book shipped fast and was in great condition. looked new to me. This book is very helpful for Ob/newborn. I got it for OB mainly because for some reason I was doing better in peds than ob and was worried I was going to fail. I wasn't able to do as much in it as I wanted but it was still very helpful and I would highly recommend to any nursing student. I was worried b/c I noticed that it is from 2006 but it doesn't matter. Ob material is still the same and it actually went right along with my book. I liked that the questions weren't too easy. It really did help me pull my grade up and finally finish out the semester with a B. If your having trouble in Obstetrics BUY THIS BOOK!!!

A must-have for doing your OB/MAT rotations and lecture. This book utilized a few different resources so you are getting the most important info from resources compounded and easy to read. Questions are okay, but the text alone is beyond being both resourceful and structured. A MUST HAVE for sure! (I told my MAT professor this book, she was using a different OB book from the one that our school made us buy. She even purchased this book, PLUS, I made out even more because this book utilized the one she used for class and the one the school had us use!!)

GREAT BOOK. All the Prentice Nursing books ROCK!! Good luck fellow nurse-students!!!

I purchased this book at the beggining of my women's health class. First test out I had a 19 chaper test, with well over 300 pages to read. Probably more.I was totally stressing over all the pages I had to read and how I was gonna retain all this information in such a short period of time. So I started reading this book, which is basically an outline that covers the key information, and gets rid of the "fluff" that's in alot of text books. I did the 50 or so questions for every chapter and made sure it correlated with what was in my text book.A few days later I went to my class , took my test and got a B on it. I was so happy. So now I have another test coming up soon and once again I plan to study this book and eat the NCLEX questions that accompany it. Wish me luck! This book is a GODsend! If you're in Maternal Neonatal Nursing this is the book u should get. It is WELL WORTH the money!

This book is awesome. I'm still waiting to receive mine but a friend let me borrow hers. I loved it so much that I had to order one for myself. The book follows our OB text book for class and it's very easy for me to review key points and take NCLEX review tests with the disk that comes with the book. I love the rationales. I found this very helpful and I aced my first exam for this class. A definite must have if taking OB.

I thought that this book was tremendously helpful during my OB rotation. Almost everything you need to know is summed up nicely into chapters (ex. ante/intra /post-partum, women's health, complications) that were broken down and sequenced in a way that made sense. If I had to choose one book to help me study and learn, this would be it. Don't get tempted to buy more than one or too many guides; in nursing school you will not have enough time to use them all.
Mysterious Wrench
I have a few NCLEX books and the ones that really help are the ones with the rationales. Even if you do not know that answers, the books teach you the rationales on answering NCLEX questions and this helps you think like a nurse. These series of books are great and I highly recommend them for question taking.
