this book is covered all the matters/ issues that you might see it in your daily life. Good to read it. Worth every cents
It's okay, most of the knowledge in the book are common things you should know. Or subjects a quick google search could answer. This was required for one of my classes and we talked about chapters in class. I will say that the book gave some nice points in topics our class could talk about.
It's a nice book and everything, but it's intended for college freshmen learning to live away from home for the very first time. It's basic "Freshmen 101". So, sure, get it for your high school senior to read over the summer before leaving home. It's got chapters on how to eat right and drinking responsibly, sex ed, stress, and the basic health information that a college freshman needs. It comes with a silly little workbook. The only real issue with the book is that I am NOT the target demographic and it was required for an upper level college course. Not the book's fault.
Perfect for my class just what was needed, brand new!
My husband needed this book for a course he needed to do for teacher re-certification points and we found it online at a cheap price. The book arrived really fast so he could do his readings and it was in great condition for the price paid.
Range of topics is the following: How to change your habits, stress, spiritual and mental health, lifestyles, fitness, nutrition, weight loss, sexuality, addictive behaviors, and prevention. The book approaches health from the perspective of a young adult student. Be aware that the book does not come with the access card that is advertised inside the front cover. The access card is a separate course that you have to pay more for. If you are unsure of what you are purchasing then call to order instead of ordering online. That way you will not be disappointed when the access card is not inside the book.
Purchased for a health class. Book has a lot of good information, but the flow of reading is interrupted by tons and TONS of statistics and it's hard to get through an entire chapter without becoming bored and exhausted. I would discourage teachers from using this book. I normally enjoy reading, but coming across numbers and figures in every other sentence becomes quite demanding.
Needed the book for continuing my education, and it seems so far to be interesting enough, although I haven't had much time to dig into it. It does have some interesting self-exams that spur the individual into digging deeper into their own health related habits (good and bad), and learn to modify their behavior.
