Made-with-Love
This is one of the plays that I and other Directors are considering for next season. We have produced "Dearly Beloved" and "Christmas Belles" written by these authors that feature the Futrelle Sisters in Fayro, Texas and they were hugely successful.
I'm sure that theaters in cities, large and small would play to full houses by presenting any if these crowd pleasers!

Highly recommanded! I started reading this play and couldn't put it down until I finished it.
Runeterror
This is a horrible play, it has adultery, domestic violence in front of children, alcoholism, degrading remarks. I read the entire thing and never smiled once. The part where they make fun of the woman who keeps miscarrying is in really poor taste and then there is the woman with 7 kids with 7 different fathers who is marrying a man that hates kids. I would give this a zero if I could.

I just saw a production of this play, and I can't believe it's the same show the other reviewers are talking about. There are a few very funny monologues, but, overall, this play's humor is about as funny as (it actually reminded me a lot of) the old sitcom "Mama's Family" - you know, the spinoff of the Carol Burnett show. Additionally, there was bathroom humor written with the intellectual sophistication of a couple of junior high school boys, and a running gag about a woman with multiple miscarriages that was apparently meant to be funny - which the audience instead (correctly) found to be sad, offensive, and in extremely poor taste. The production I saw featured some very good actors, doing some very good acting - but the material they had just STANK. If you believe that "The Beverly Hillbillies" represented the pinnacle of the wit and humor of our civilization, you will love this show. Otherwise, save your money.

I was in a production of Dearly Departed several years ago and revisited it by purchasing the play.
The humor is well structured for such a simple story. Despite the numerous characters in the play, it all seems to fit nicely.

The characters come alive while reading it and it contains many choices of great scenes and monologues to work with for both men and women.
