Presbyterianism is a part of the Reformed tradition within Protestantism, which traces its origins to Britain, particularly Scotland. Presbyterian churches derive their name from the presbyterian form of church government, which is governed by representative assemblies of elders.

More Presbyterian Questions, More Presbyterian Answers: Exploring Christian Faith. Harvard University Press.

This book considers basics of Christian faith about the church, conveyed through the perspectives of the Reformed tradition, particularly in its Presbyterian expression from Donald McKim's own context in the Presbyterian Church (. The six chapters deal with ecclesiology: understandings of the church. The book begins by considering the call to follow Jesus in the church, the beginning of the Christian journey. The Reformation slogan the Church Reformed and Always Being Reformed according to the Word of God orients us to the nature of the church and God's ongoing work of Word.

Presbyterians often have questions about Presbyterian theology and beliefs that are basic to Christian faith itself. This "beginner's" approach to Presbyterianism disappointed me in its lack of better organization and its description of certain aspects of the faith. At some points an answer would seem to contradict another answer, elsewhere in the book. I think, also, that the author assumes the reader already has some knowledge about Christianity in general and about Presbyterianism in particular. This makes for leaps and gaps in the discussion of various ideas. I believe any introductory book to a Christian religion is well served by the inclusion of the basics of Christian belief before elaborating on the Presbyterian take (or perhaps during that basic discussion). (An example of what I think of as a good model for an introductory book is "Lutheranism 101", also sold by Amazon. Among other things, that book cites the Bible for various beliefs and rituals , e.g., baptism, communion, in a brief, orderly way; offers suggested daily prayers; and keeps one focused on how to develop a relationship with God through Lutheran practices and beliefs.) I shall have to keep looking for a more foundational introduction to Presbyterianism.

I thought this book was informative, but no one obviously proof read it. Letters are missing, some are added that don't make sense and statements are made that are not complete. It makes it very difficult to read. I finally gave up reading it, which is sad because I really wanted to read about the topic.

Until it is fixed, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Frankly, I'd like to get my money back!

When I joined my Presbyterian church one of the pastors asked if I joined because I was Presbyterian or if I joined because I liked the congregation. It was the second. We are doing a book study on this and many questions have been answered. I can now say that while I still love my congregation, I love the Presbyterian church and am honored to call myself a member.

This is a wonderful book which provides concise and accurate information on commonly asked questions concerning Presbyterian theology and belief statements. Be aware this book mainly reflects the ideas of PC(USA) however the author does try and mention other Presbyterian groups stances as well. This is great for a new members class, group study, or just for those curious to learn more about Presbyterianism.

The title I gave this review says it all. I found this book very pleasurable to read. The question / answer format of this book provides the reader brief but concise information about the Presbyterian Church (USA) beliefs and practices. I would recommend this book to any inquirer or a lifetime PCUSA member who would like a refresher course in their faith.

My son was required to read this book for confirmation class. I read it as well and found it very informative

I have enjoyed skimming through this when I have a chance. My family and I have recently switched from attending our local Catholic Church to our local Presbyterian church and the book has been great for getting some ideas on how the churches differ and how they are set up. I have even started taking it along to our adult Sunday school that we attend while the kids are in class....
I am enjoying this book but there are so many typos I'm about to squeak very loudly. Please re-edit this book and update our previously purchased copies. Thank you! :)
