Rodney Castleden (Goodreads Author). There are a series of events that, in the author's view, have changed the world. In fact, the book is made up of a series of small stories collected from history books or from various papers.

Rodney Castleden (Goodreads Author). In this volume the author offers a thought-provoking examination of the many pivotal events in the course of world history. The author does not say how these events have changed the world, it does not talk about the effects of these events over time, and the events are chosen at random and have no logical connection between them. It's a holiday book of no great value.

British author Rodney Castleden takes readers on a guided tour of various disasters that have ravished the earth . The book runs to 576 pages, covers 150-odd events and has NO index! Secondly, several of the events covered I would not classify as "natural disasters.

Rodney Castleden’s book ‘Conflicts that Changed the World’ is a pleasant book to read. However, I must admit that once I got into the book I was more displeased than charmed, it was a little like the starter was great but by the time I reached the desert I was underwhelmed by the sheer brevity of the storyline. It was as though I had been cheated into paying for the restaurant bill before I had consumed my final course.

These are ten events from the Twentieth Century that changed the world in a very significant wa. But, the sheer audacity and scale of these terrorist attacks shocked the US and the world. The loss of life was estimated at just under 3,000. The event changed American foreign policy.

Interesting book. How did Mr. Castleden choose which events to include? However, I greatly disagree with some of the events included and some that were left out.

He leaves out JFK's assassination. That certainly changed the world.

And another date left out. I have studied the history of rock and roll music and, while not an expert, I do know a lot about it. This musical genre has greatly affected the entire world and influenced untold millions of people over more than 5 decades. So an event that greatly altered the history of rock music should be included here: the day the music died, Feb. 3, 1959 in Iowa.
