Binary opinion dynamics under imitation processes have been well studied, and we expect that in most cases. Journal of Mathematical Economics . Two agents may interact and reach a fair compromise, but only if their difference of opinion falls below a fixed threshold. the attractor of the dynamics will display uniformity of opinions, either 0 or 1, when interactions occur. across the whole population. Starting from a uniform distribution of opinions with compact support, a traveling wave forms and it propagates from the domain boundary into the unstable uniform state.

The results are applied to describe the reliability of technical systems and to classification problems, and to an important class of finite Boolean algebras.

This book addresses production and inventory management problems where products can be replaced by specified substitutes. Depending on the considered application, substitutions can potentially improve the service level, reduce required safety stocks and total setup costs and times, utilize cost variations of input products, and reduce the amount of wastage. The main focus is the development of graphical modeling approaches for substitution options and of production planning models based on these approaches using mathematical programming

In this book binary functions and their representation by implicants or implicates are described. In particular minimal representations by prime implicants or prime implicates are given. Such representations generalize the minimal representations of the usual Boolean functions. It is shown that implicants (implicates) of discrete functions may be constructed with the help of implicants (implicates) of binary functions. One substantial application is the description of the reliability structure of technical systems, another is the use of binary respectively discrete functions to classify objects which are described by the grades of certain attributes. Finally a class of Boolean algebras of practical importance (set algebras, indicator algebras, algebras of classes of propositions) are considered. The elements of such algebras have representations which are strongly connected with the representations of binary functions.
