Norman Alfred William Lindsay (22 February 1879 – 21 November 1969) was an Australian artist, etcher, sculptor, writer, art critic, cartoonist and amateur boxer.

Norman Alfred William Lindsay (22 February 1879 – 21 November 1969) was an Australian artist, etcher, sculptor, writer, art critic, cartoonist and amateur boxer. One of the most prolific and popular Australian artists of his generation, Lindsay attracted both acclaim and controversy for his works, some of which were deemed blasphemous. He was also an influential writer on Australian art, and in 1918 published The Magic Pudding, which has become a classic of Australian children's literature.

Norman Lindsay was a pen draughtsman and etcher of great technical brilliance, a fine watercolourist and craftsman of ship-models. His oil paintings were less successful, heavy handed both in touch and colour. In 1921 he returned to London for further study, taking with him a letter of introduction from Sir Baldwin Spencer to Frank Rinder, adviser to the Felton bequest committee. In London Lindsay haunted the art museums and art auction houses, laying the foundation of knowledge of the art market and connoisseurship that was to serve him so well later.

Norman Alfred William Lindsay was an Australian artist. Lindsay was born in Creswick, Victoria. Norman was the son of Irish surgeon Robert Charles William Alexander Lindsay and Jane Elizabeth Lindsay from Creswick. Fifth of ten children, he was the brother of Per Norman Alfred William Lindsay was an Australian artist.

Lindsay is widely regarded as one of Australia's greatest artists, producing a vast body of work in different media, including pen drawing, etching, watercolour, oil and sculptures in concrete and bronze. A large body of his work is housed in his former home at Faulconbridge, New South Wales, now the Norman Lindsay Gallery and Museum
