I am so pleased to see you have Primitive Pragmatists. It is the premiere book on the pre-history Modoc Indians of northern California and southern Oregon. Nothing like it exists. As a Modoc myself, who was related to one of the book's Modoc informants, I have always been grateful to Ray for compiling and preserving the 1934 field research work of the five college students who saved this history before it was gone. The research in this book was carefully supervised and done and will stand the test of time. All those Modocs interviewed are now with the Modoc's supreme being Kumookumts. May they rest in peace.
