At first, the plot seemed to bounce from event to event without so much as a why or a how, sometimes even leaving the reader speechless with appearances and actions that seemed utterly nonsensical. And when it wasn't jumping, there seemed to be an excess of philosophical dialogue.

The two volumes of "Superman: for Tomorrow" make an interesting, dark, violent story. My favorite parts involve a quiet dialogue between Superman and a terminally-ill priest. The artwork is top-notch throughout, but the story is rather too-unrelentingly dismal for my tastes. I missed the humor that is lacking and which would have made the darkness more bearable. My favorite "serious" Superman tales always have some humor to cleanse the palate (cf. "Superman: Brainiac"). 3.5 Stars

This book was kind of all over the place. I had heard mixed things about this run and figured I'd check it out considering I enjoyed just about all of what Azzarello has done on 100 Bullets, and Jim Lee is, well, he's Jim Lee. That being said, I think the most redeeming quality of this book is the art. The team of Jim Lee and Scott Williams have done it again, proving why they're two of the best.

I think the main problem was with Azzarello's attempts to turn Superman into too much of a dark, brooding character, like Batman. And that just isn't what good ol' Supes represents. I will admit that the use of confessionals to serve as a dual narrative of sorts was very well done. The priest serves a major role in keeping Clark anchored to his humanity. Which we all know is one of his greatest gifts.

Excellent book and in condition that was described. Jim Lee and Brian Azzarello excelled in this series, certainly worth the read.

I thought this would be better, it doesn't have the quality of other Superman books I own. However the art and the story are great as usual. :D Now I have to buy For Tomorrow Vol. 2

Superman: For Tomorrow, Volume 1 is great! This Superman story is written by Brian Azarello and is drawn by master illustrator, Jim Lee! This DC book collects Superman issues #204 to 209! This book is great because the artwork is superb! Jim Lee is at his best in this series! Jim Lee draws a very dark tale that involves the Man of Steel, Superman! I like the artwork in these issues! I highly Recommended it! A+

Im a hardcore DC fan. This is especially a must buy if your a DC fan or just a superman fan.
You can't miss this book. The only people complaining are the 'old men' of the comic book industry that are afraid of change and new ideas. This is a beautiful book. It features some of the best writing and art i've seen anywhere. It's a must buy!
