James Timothy Gleeson (21 November 1915 – 20 October 2008) was an Australian artist. He served on the board of the National Gallery of Australia. Gleeson was born in the Sydney district of Hornsby in 1915 and attended East Sydney Technical College from 1934 to 1936. In 1938 Gleeson studied at Sydney Teachers College, where he gained two years training in general primary school teaching. Salvador Dalí, Max Ernst, André Masson, Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung became major influence in Gleeson's work.
James William Gleeson (24 December 1920 – 21 March 2000) was an Australian clergyman and the sixth Archbishop of Adelaide. He was the first South Australian priest to become Archbishop of Adelaide. James William Gleeson was born on 24 December 1920 in Balaklava, north of Adelaide in South Australia. His early education was in Balaklava, attending a Josephite school before going to boarding school at Sacred Heart College in Somerton Park, South Australia, a Marist Brothers college.

Gleeson trained at East Sydney Technical College from 1934-36. He then went on to study, and later lecture, at Sydney's Teacher's College. From 1949- 1972 he was art critic for the Sun and from 1962 for the Sun Herald.
