In the dark alleyways of some of London's most menacing streets lives a young orphan boy who can sing with the voice of an angel, but will not speak. Through his generosity and kindness, and the power and glory of the majestic music of his Messiah, George Frideric Handel helps heal the young boy's spirit and aids him to find a place that is truly home. This story follows in the footsteps of the Governor General's Award-winning Beethoven Lives Upstairs, and Tchaikovsky Discovers America.

This little book is out of print and I don't know why! It's a nice, heartwarming story about how Handel becomes aware of the orphanage shortage and finds a way to help. As someone who believes strongly in service to others, I loved that this story showed how a person saw a need and volunteered to help. (I'm not saying it's a true story, but the message is good!) I used it in a class I am teaching to elementary students about classical composers. The kids enjoyed the story, were intrigued by the fact that orphans exist, and LOVED the illustrations. I recommend this book to anyone who likes stories that are eyecatching and educational.

Lovely pictures and a great story that helps give depth and new meaning when listening to Handel's Halleluiah chorus. Beautiful!
