The spiritual journey of George Carey, from rector to Archbishop of Canterbury.

The spiritual journey of George Carey, from rector to Archbishop of Canterbury. He is a spiritual giant among those who would turn this ancient tradition into an anything-goes modernism.

This book describes a project that made the church more appealing to the local community.

The author, who was Vicar at the time, went on (eventually) to be the Archbishop of Canterbury, so it's very interesting to read about some of his early struggles with faith and guidance. This book describes a project that made the church more appealing to the local community

Carey, George, 1935-. Books for People with Print Disabilities. Internet Archive Books. Uploaded by station39. cebu on January 2, 2020. The book is written in a clear and interesting style, recounting the author’s worries and his own growth in faith. He doesn’t over-spiritualise, nor does he preach - instead he lets the story stand for itself as a testimony to God’s leading and the unlikely things that can be done if people are willing to pray.

This church was built in 1356 replacing a wooden church with the same name. The lower part dates back to the 14th century. In the late 17th century, the upper part was rebuilt in the style of Naryshkin Baroque, which had become popular by that time. Now the church exhibits the frescoes from the Church of the Transfiguration of Our Savior on Kovalevo Field revived by the well-known Novgorod art conservators.
