Justin D’Ath was born in New Zealand, and moved to Australia in 1971 to study for missionary priesthood, leaving after three years. He has worked in a sugar mill, on a cattle station, in a mine, on an island, in a laboratory, and taught writing for twelve years. He wrote his first children’s book in 1996. Bushfire Rescue is the second book in the Extreme Adventures series, and is well, another extreme adventure for young Sam Fox. Here's the breakdown: Hook/Setting: The story is like a snowball rolling down a hill, it keeps getting faster and faster.

Born in New Zealand, Justin D'Ath was one of twelve children. He came to Australia in 1971 to study for missionary priesthood but after three years, left the seminary in the dead of night and spent two years roaming Australia on a motorbike! Whilst doing that he began his writing career contributing pieces for motorbike magazines. He published his first novel for adults in 1989 and this was followed by numerous award-winning short stories, also for adults.

Justin D'Ath (based on the books "Extreme Adventures" by), Brendan Luno (as Brenden Luno). Sam, Rikki and Josie are in Tasmania, mountain-biking in the bush. Taking a crazy risk, Sam lands on a ledge and accidentally finds a rare Tasmanaian devil juvenile, without the tumors that endanger its species, so valuable for rescue breeding. Rikki must allow his precious brand new backpack to be used as safe container for the dirty beast. A fire suddenly forces them to run for their lives, or drive once they come across a truck.

2005) (A book in the Extreme Adventures series) A novel by Justin D'Ath. To survive, he must rely on his courage; ingenuity, and the help of Chainsaw - a mad old rodeo bull! Genre: Children's Fiction. Used availability for Justin D'Ath's Bushfire Rescue.

Like any mother of a newborn, Davies is running on little sleep as she cares for around 50 grey-headed flying-foxes that have lost both their mothers and homes to Australia’s huge bushfires. The mammals, also known as fruit bats, are hugely important to the country’s forests as they disperse seeds and pollinate many tree species, including Eucalyptus, the sole food source of koalas.

An action-packed rollercoaster ride, Bushfire Rescue is the second book in a thrilling new series!

My 2nd grader loves the Extreme Adventure series, and Brushfire Rescue is no exception. Each chapter brings a new exciting twist, and it took her two days of bedtime reading to finish the book. It is also entertaining for me, and I don't mind reading it aloud to her.

I give these books, written by Justin d'Ath, to my granddaughter and she devours them! She is now twelve years old, and like so many kids today, who grew up on fast-moving video games and loud TV programs, she has a short attention span. These books are perfect, if one wants the child to read. Give them a thicker tome, and it will not be read. Give them one of these page turners, and they will read. Good for both girls and boys.

I started reading these books to my son at bedtime. We loved it, but found ourselves staying up past his bedtime because they are so intense and leave you hanging at the end of almost every chapter. We plan to get the whole series if we can find it.

My nephew asked for this book for his birthday, and it was in perfect condition! Thanks for a great present!

In this, the second book in the series, Sam Fox (14) is visiting his Nan and Pop on their Australian ranch. Sam, is out on the horse Susie, taking Pop's lunch to him. Susie, full of tricks, tries to get Sam off by riding into a branch. All she actually succeeds in doing is angering some wasps which sends her off in a gallop towards the bull pen. Wrong direction!

Why are two men loading up Kosciusko Rex, Pop's prize Charolais bull? Why is the man on the motorcycle coming after Sam? Why does he drive Susie off leaving Sam stranded? Thankfully Susie comes back for Sam but with three choices to make as to what to do next, Sam chooses the most unwise/dangerous one but probably the one all young teenagers would make! Sam attempts to take Susie up over Copperhead Spur hoping to catch a glimpse of the license plate of the rustlers he now knows to be the Jindabyne Rustlers. What he hasn't figured out is the reason for the unusual clouds! A bushfire!

Grab a copy of this book and read the hair raising antics that Sam gets up to in this adventure especially when he realizes that the bull the rustlers took is not in fact Kosciusko Rex but Chainsaw, the meanest rodeo bull in the history of Australia!

Well-written, very descriptive, albeit a little unbelievable at times BUT it is fiction. Kids loved it!

Bushfire Rescue is the second book in the Extreme Adventures series, and is well, another extreme adventure for young Sam Fox.

Here's the breakdown:

Hook/Setting: The story is like a snowball rolling down a hill, it keeps getting faster and faster. The setting is diverse and well done.

Character(s): Sam is back along with some new characters, mainly animals. I grew attached to Sam's horse, Susie, but there's also an ex-rodeo bull, wild horses, kangaroos, and a series of birds.

Events/Plot: The plot is intense and the action doesn't end until the book does. From falls to landslides to bushfires, it'll be a miracle if Sam lives to be thirty.

Reader Excitability/Overall Presentation: The story is unique and as good as the first book. I would recommend this book to Extreme Adventures fans and anyone who wants an hour of action.
