Elisabeth Macdonald was born in Vernal, utah, and has been writing almost since she can remember. She is herself a Mormon, and her great-grandmother was a wife in a polygamous Mormon marriage. The author of ten published novels, she lives in Fresno, California. I never had the urge to read any of them.

This engrossing family saga brings to life two indomitable women. Kate, the young wife of Burns Hamilton, a Mormon missionary, is deeply in love with her husband, but is hurt and humiliated when he takes a second and then a third wife.As the years pass, Kate becomes the matriarchal figure in the multiple household with her children bringing her both pain and pleasure.Watch for the Morning is a richly conceived novel, a moving love story, a vivid picture of the Mormon settlement in Utah and of the hardships and indignities imposed upon its women. Readers will find it unforgettable.

Conisdering Elisabeth MacDonald is my grandmother, all of her books have been on our shelves for years. I never had the urge to read any of them. Mostly because she is my grandmother and reading a romantic novel she wrote would be weird, and also because I do not share the same mormon faith. But I finally picked this one up and though "what the heck. I'll just read it." and I was pleasantly suprised. It was pretty good. It was a bit tough for me to get through some of the more provocative parts, but I was impressed by what my grandma could do with words.
