Suzanne Morris t was the most effective way I knew of dealing with my own passions, for I am not one by nature to suppress true feelings, Though much of my life up to that time had been thus spent.

I read this book years ago when it came out and it always stuck with me. Now I am reading it again. I love the historical setting since I live outside of Galveston and know many of the places and can picture them in my mind, but the characters are well developed and stay with you years after the book is read. I'm glad I found the book again and know I will read it again since I have it on Kindle. I do not want to give the story away like so many others, but it's worth the read if you like a human interest story of people trying to find themselves in overcoming the struggles we all face in life. We all have to put on a face for the crowd, but we are all hiding secrets.

I LOVE GALVESTON! The story is incredibly readable; I love Ms Morris' language. The plot is fascinating, with twists and turns that surprise and yet, are logical. Having grown up near Galveston and knowing much of the city's history, the book was very accurate in its descriptions. Deliciously beguiling!!!
