Based on the title, I hoped to find a history of Russian Orthodoxy. Instead, the book seems obsessed only with how and when Russian leaders described Russia as distinctly the heirs of the Orthodox faith, in other words the third Christian Empire or "kingdom of God": beginning with Rome, followed by Byzantium, and finally Russia. There are certainly merits to the historical information, but the book is neither chronologically linear, nor a history of Russian faith.
The Russian Revolution book . The bald fanatic was arguably the best investment the Kaiser ever made, and I think it's an important nugget of history that shouldn't be forgotten. Lenin at this time was an obscure exile, and the socialists of his party had so far played a negligible, role in events.
