Love Story is a 1970 romance novel by American writer Erich Segal. The book's origins lay in a screenplay that Segal wrote, and that was subsequently approved for production by Paramount Pictures. The novel was released on February 14, 1970, Valentine's Day. Portions of the story originally appeared in The Ladies' Home Journal

My mom had a great sense of humor and a knack for making everything fun. One thing that resonated with me, even as a small child, was how much she seemed to enjoy her own company and found ways to entertain herself. As a kid, I remember her giggling while paying bills

My mom had a great sense of humor and a knack for making everything fun. As a kid, I remember her giggling while paying bills. What was so funny about bill paying? She would put humorous notes in the reference section of the check: For the electric bill, she might put You light up my life, and for the mortgage she’d write Four shingles closer to owning it all. THE HARDEST CHOICE by Andrea Cortinas, El Paso, Texas. Thirty-five years ago, when my mom.

Helen Burgoon was born in 1927 and raised in the small, rural community of Kingston, Ohio. She married her high school sweetheart and they had two girls, which Helen stayed at home with. And, being a stay-at-home mom during the 1960s, Helen loved to cook.

In 2000, Helen was diagnosed with lung cancer. One of her primary missions, from the day she learned of her illness, was to make sure her daughters had all of her recipes, many of which weren't written down. So, she and her oldest daughter, Brenda, began a daily ritual of digging through recipe boxes and then Helen's memory for all of her favorite recipes.

When Helen died on Christmas Day 2000, the idea for a cookbook was born and evolved into a tribute to the stay-at-home mom of the 1960s.

Love, Mom is full of old-fashioned comfort food recipes and short stories about growing up in a small town in the 1960s.

Brenda and her sister, Paula, are working hard to get the word out about this book and have pledged the profits from the sale of the book to the hospice that helped them care for Helen during her final days.

Brenda McGuire's "Love, Mom" is a loving reminder of the stay-at-home mothers of the past and their priceless contribution to the welfare of their family. Helen Burgoon, her mother, never felt the need to make excuses because she was not in the work force. Pardon me--she Was in the work force devoting countless hours in the kitchen and home trying to make it a happy place for her children and husband as she continually amazed them with her culinary skills.
This book was written out of gratitude and love to her mother. It is chuck full of not only her mother's mouth- watering recipes, but wonderful anecdotes of a more simpler time in Kingston, Ohio and the memories of that time which are priceless and treasured. Needless to say, I enjoyed the book very much, and I believe other readers will too. Hopefully, this book will connect them to memories of a happy childhood as well.
