CAPTAIN BLOOD His Odyssey. Peter Blood, bachelor of medicine and several other things besides, smoked a pipe and tended the geraniums boxed on the sill of his windowabove Water Lane in the town of Bridgewater. Sternly disapproving eyes considered him from a window opposite, butwent disregarded. Mr. Blood's attention was divided between his task andthe stream of humanity in the narrow street below; a stream which pouredfor the second time that day towards Castle Field, where earlier inthe afternoon Ferguson, the Duke's chaplain, had preached a sermoncontaining more treason than divinity.

Captain Blood Returns takes place during the same time as the original Captain Blood story. Not so much the return of the Captain, darlin', but his "overlooked" adventures in Sabatini's first book, begining shortly after his escape from slavery

Captain Blood Returns takes place during the same time as the original Captain Blood story. It is a collection of more adventures that could very well have been added to the original story. I can't wait to read the next book waiting for me-The Fortunes of Captain Blood. Not so much the return of the Captain, darlin', but his "overlooked" adventures in Sabatini's first book, begining shortly after his escape from slavery. Contains all the clever tricks and swashbuckling you've come to expect in a series of short stories. Sabatini's talent really shines in this format and Captain Blood Returns is entertaining to read all at once or bits at a time.

The original Captain Blood was a runaway best seller. So Sabatini began cranking out further adventures of Captain Blood that were essentially collections of unrelated stories

The original Captain Blood was a runaway best seller. So Sabatini began cranking out further adventures of Captain Blood that were essentially collections of unrelated stories. Each chapter of "Fortunes" relates a complete stand-alone vignette, not related to the other chapters of the book. You won't find a continuous narrative, and not much in the way of Blood's pining for the unreachable Arabella Bishop.

Captain Blood: His Odyssey is an adventure novel by Rafael Sabatini, originally published in 1922. Sabatini was a proponent of basing historical fiction as closely as possible on history. Although Blood is a fictional character, much of the historical background of the novel is based on fact

Captain Blood - 3 ). Captain Blood, the remarkable physician turned pirate returns for more thrilling adventures at sea. Time and again, he falls headlong into deep peril, each time emerging victorious. Yet when everything is stacked against him, can he keep his honour until the bitter end? Captain Blood is marked by its exciting high seas adventures, exotic locations, historical elements, clever characters, romance, and its generous contribution of swashbuckling. Cast away from his tedious lifestyle as a physician, Blood must rise and take responsibility as his character develops to fit the description of the very rebel he initially opposed. Apart from creating an interesting piece of literature, Sabatini shows his determination for precision as he keeps the historical background in the book as close to the actual events as possible

The Chronicles of Captain Blood. Further adventures from the much-loved Captain Blood, the ‘Robin Hood’ of the Spanish Seas.

The Chronicles of Captain Blood. His latest exploits take him to new adventures with as much excitement and swashbuckling adventure as ever before.

Paster
Series of short stories which expand on the exploits of Captain Blood. Not a continuation of the original novel; but rather episodes which could be inserted anywhere between the opening and closing chapters of that book. The writing style is identical to that in Captain Blood, and should prove enjoyable to anyone who enjoyed the original story. One caution: the stories in this book were also published under the title: The Chronicles of Captain Blood--- so don't buy both. I have read several of Sabatini's novels, and consider the Captain Blood stories to be among his better efforts.

The title notwithstanding (that's the U.S. publishers fault; Maestro Sabatini titled it "The Chronicles of Captain Blood") this is not a sequel but several stories of Blood's adventures which didn't make it into the original novel. Terrific stuff about his best character.

Loved it! After reading Captain Blood I wanted more and this was perfect. A collection of short stories of Captain Bloods exploits left out of the original novel

I was surprised to find there were more books written about Captain Blood. I had read the original Captain Blood and loved it. I think it is high time Hollywood remade the movie too. Captain Blood Returns takes place during the same time as the original Captain Blood story. It is a collection of more adventures that could very well have been added to the original story. I can't wait to read the next book waiting for me--The Fortunes of Captain Blood.
