Elements of College Writing book.

Elements of College Writing book.

This book can help you write better college essays. It combines the most important rules and conventions of academic writing with the rudiments of good style. Naturally it has its limitations: it is general (with little to say about writing in different disciplines), basic (and may be most useful to beginning college students), and short (thus covering a lot of ground quickly). It is not about critical thinking in any formal sense, and indeed tries to lay down its do's and don'ts, as well as my own unauthorized views on writing, as informally as possible.

Connect Writing coupled with College Writing Skills with Readings provides the foundation for your grammar study and tools to support the writing process. The author of a popular series of college textbooks on both writing and reading, John enjoys the challenge of developing materials that teach skills in an especially clear and lively way. Before teaching, he earned advanced degrees in writing at Rutgers University and in reading at Rowan University. He also spent a year writing fiction that, he says, is now at the back of a drawer waiting to be discovered and acclaimed posthumously.

The author of this book however understands that. The reason I bought the book was because I received a poor grade on a paper for one of my humanities classes. I realized that my writing style was awful and that it was hiding the content (if there was any good content) from the reader. I started reading the first two chapters and was able to apply the tips right away during my final (on which I got an astounding 95%, thank you very much)

Ruth took some of Anthea's advice, had her hair cut, won a scholarship from the British Council which entitled her to a year in France working on her thesis, and fell in love. Only the last fact mattered to her, although she would anxiously examine her hair to see if it made her look any better. She thought him exemplary and regretted having no good works to report back. 15 The race for virtue, which she had always read about, was on. So Ruth took more of Anthea's advice and found a flat for herself. Предыдущая 60 61 62 63 646566 67 68 69 Следующая ⇒.
