The Geronimo Stilton series follows the eponymous Geronimo, a nervous, mild-mannered, talking mouse . Phantom of the Subway is the first of the Geronimo Stilton books that I picked up after my son chose it at the library.

In this adventure, a ghost is rumored to haunt the city’s subway tunnels, and so Geronimo goes off in pursuit of the scoop for the front pages of The Rodent’s Gazette. I was a little skeptical of the book as readers are first barraged with the gimmicky font play, but after entering the world of Geronimo Stilton, I was surprised.

Geronimo Stilton again solving a problem that keeps kids entertained. The book is just action packed and keeps kids reading because they want to see how it ends. The book, and presumably the series, is a set of adventures that the reporter, publisher, and amateur sleuth mouse Geronimo Stilton goes on to get the scoop for his paper.

My son (age 5) loves this series. Some of the language is a bit tricky for him but it thoroughly engages him and pushes him well

I loved the amount of mystery and adventure in this book, but I didn't exactly like the end of the book. Also, this book has terrible page format that I had to squint to see it. I would recommend this to 6-10 yr olds who like adventure, mystery and can read small text.
