Michael Dobbs - Baron Dobbs of Wylye - is an active member of the House of Lords and an internationally bestselling author who has never been far from controversy. He has worked at the centre of British politics for Margaret Thatcher, John Major and now David Cameron, and was once described as 'Westminster's baby-faced hit man'.

A missile tears a passenger plane from the skies over London. Everyone on board is killed, including thirty-seven special children. As terror turns to international chaos, can the government survive...? Who would have killed them? And why? When Harry Jones starts searching for answers, he stumbles into the middle of a plot that stretches from Russia to the Islamic revolution in Egypt, from the shores of the Caspian Sea to an ancient church in rural Wiltshire. Yet every lead he pursues finds its way back to the secret corners of Brussels and a British woman named Patricia Vaine. She and Harry are doomed to fight their battle to the death. Their own lives, and the future of an entire continent, are at stake in what develops into the greatest political power game since the end of the Second World War. For this is a plot not just to take over one country but the whole of Europe. And in this deadly game, the victors will claim total victory - unless Harry Jones can stop them...

We have become hooked on Michael Dobbs' books about Harry Jones. Great read!
Extremely well typical Dobbs/Harry Jones fashion! A brilliant character sketch/development of our hero, Harry Jones. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ONE AND ALL 6 books in the Harry Jones Series
The first book I have read by this author and he is certainly on my list now. Harry Jones not the typical English man or politician but a great protagonist. This book is certainly one to read.
A self- assured and exciting novel with all the right ingredients. I wish he was writing more frequently - for me I can't get enough! Great book!
I enjoy Michael Dobbs and followed the story till the confrontation I the church then it all fell apart. I am sure MD could do better
Michael Dobbs is a master. I did not think anything could top the "House of Cards" trilogy, but the evolution of the Harry Jones series comes close! Exciting and topical, this is well worth reading.
Michael Dobbs has written another excellent book and the characters are well developed. The writing is crisp and the description of the parliamentary processes and personal interactions are 100% credible. Only the ending raises a question mark.
I have become a big fan of M Dobbs, especially his historical novels this one was disappointing, story fragmented until late in the narrative. Certainly not one of his best.
