MacDonald, Patricia J. Cast into doubt. 1. Mothers of murder victims – Fiction. Special thanks to two Tonys: Tony Canesso for his help with this book, and Tony Cartano, for all his help these many years.

MacDonald, Patricia J. Prajit Singh didn’t want any drama on his shift. He needed time to concentrate. So far, it had been a quiet night, and that was the way he preferred it. Drivers came and went, coming in to use the restrooms, and pay for their gas. Kids hung around drinking slurpees from the machine at the back of the store, and harried moms came in to pick up a quart of milk for breakfast, or some small bags of chips to toss into the kids’ lunches.

Talia informed her that Glen had left again. Shelby knew from long experience that it was impossible to call Glen. He bought prepaid cell phones from time to time, but she never had his number. did not ask what she wanted with Glen, or offer to help. Shelby wouldn’t have asked for her sister’s help anyway. She felt as if there was no one in the world she could talk to. No one who would understand. She drove home to her apartment. Her hand was shaking so hard as she tried to unlock the door that her keys made a jangling noise.

Cast into Doubt had a very interesting premise and I was pretty excited to read it after reading favorable reviews. I read the entire book because it was suspenseful and I was drawn in enough to want to find out how it ended, it wasn't predictable in that sense.

What I didn't like about the book and it's probably just the author's writing style, is the main character Shelby and her daughter Chloe weren't very likable characters. They both seemed very cold, disconnected, selfish and insensitive. It was a little difficult to relate to Shelby and Chloe and feel sympathetic towards them. I feel the author could have done a better job of making the characters a little more real and relatable by sharing with the reader their raw emotions and pain they may have experienced earlier in life that turned them into such hard adults.

**SMALL SPOILER ALERT**
The ending was a bit far fetched and difficult to believe, I think the motive should have been something a little more shocking that were drive someone to murder. I don't feel the motive was enough to warrant someone going to those extremes.

I just recently started reading Patricia MacDonald's books, and I have not been disappointed at all. I think I have read 3 and intend to get more. The twists and turns are so awesome and it is hard for me to stop reading when I get started. I said no sexual content, because it is just a little bit, but it is not explicit, lengthy or offensive.

Her books are always good and are a fast read. Author has a very dim view of police departments. Most states have laws against unlawful interregations of possible suspects. Any one of her many books I would recommend.

This was an enjoyable book, I read it quickly. It does keep you in suspense to find out what truly happened
to Chole. She supposedly fell overboard on a cruise and her mom believes it was foul play but no one else does.
The author takes you through the mystery until you are guessing and changing your guess of what happened.
I've read other books by Patricia MacDonaly and liked them all.

Completely unrealistic plot with unlikeable characters. It was hard to care what happened to the main character since she was so rude and unpleasant

I have read all of Patricia books and was very disappointed in this one. It was definitely NOT one of her better works. Not only was the story less than expected and non-suspenseful, the editing of this book was atrocious.

Very disappointed and disappointing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A really great thriller, she is a new author for me so I am now making my way through all her books.
