Hawke Электронная библиотека e-libra. Bell Te. awke by Ted Bell Prologue The boy, barely seven years old, was dreaming what was to be the last completely happy dream of his life. He was sound asleep in the top bunk of his tiny berth as images of his dog, Scoundrel, bounded across his mind. They had taken a small picnic down to the edge of the sea, just below the big house where his grandfather lived. Alex spent long hours sitting in his open bedroom window with that battered telescope, tracking birds and ships, imagining his famous namesake doing the very same thing.

Alex Hawke has no idea I’m even looking into this. In fact, he has no memory of the actual murders-. Which he witnessed, said Witherspoon, shaking his head sadly. You want to exorcise your friend Alexander Hawke’s old ghosts, Chief Congreve? Witherspoon asked. I’d like very much to somehow put his mind at rest, yes, Congreve said. That’s why we’re here in Nassau. If we could solve this thing, even bring the murderers to justice, it might offer him a bit of peace. I see. You should probably know that Alex Hawke is one of the wealthiest men on earth, Ross said. He controls a vast business empire. You may have heard the name of the holding company.

Winning Ted Bell's Alexander Hawke novel Warlord in a Goodreads giveaway gave me the opportunity to explore personally foreign territory in my fiction reading, as book giveaways often do. In this case. Пользовательский отзыв - dekan - LibraryThing. Warlord, todd bell This book was really good and I quite enjoyed it. You could really visualize what the author was trying to convey. He mixed in some reality things with his own spin which is kindof.

I really did enjoy this book. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is of no fault to the author. It is more that the writing style and story-telling is a bit different to other authors I read usually (this is only my opinion) such as Child, Crais, Peterson & Baldacci. I found myself putting the book down at times and not feeling compelled to pick it back up in a hurry as it dragged a little at times where I thought it didn't need to (such as the level of development put into the MP character when I felt it didn't need to go that extent). Again, this is only an individualistic view of the story where others will view it as thorough background story development.
Overall though, the characters as a whole were portrayed very well and the plot definitely developed at a crisp rate in the latter half of the book.

This was the first Ted Bell novel, and I really enjoyed it. I liked the Alex Hawke character and all of his associates. Plot was good and moved along quickly. Bell doesn't take himself too seriously with the writing, and that is not a critique - it's a fun read with many lighthearted barbs along the way that reminded me of Harlan Coben's Myron Bolitar novels. Will be fun to follow Alex Hawke and see what he is up to in the other novels.

This is the first book I've read from author Ted Bell. I heard Rush Limbaugh talking up his books one day on the radio and decided to give one a try. If you read for entertainment, then this fiction novel will keep you turning the pages. However, it us a bit unrealistic compared to series books from other authors I've read (namely John Sandford's Prey series of books, or numerous books by Nelson DeMille, and David Baldacci.). Bottom line is: it will keep your interest as long as you don't question reality.
Yadon
Lots of action, large cast of characters. Well written. Five stars for that. Everything a little larger than life (even the parrot), a little stereotypic, a little predictable, a bit like a Romance, so one star deduction.
Cae
Great suspense, and very well written and descriptive. But why does every character use a cuss word in every sentence they quote?

I STARTED OUT MY TED BELL READING WITH BOOK THREE. i WAS SO INTRIQUED THAT I ORDERED AND READ THE FIRST BOOK. "HAWKE" IS A WELL WTITTEN NOVEL WITH PLAUSIBLE STORY LINES AND GOOD CHARACTERS. THERE WERE A FEW TIMES WHEN THE BLACK CHARACTER'S MONOLOG WAS NOT PERFECTLY TUNED TO MY EAR, BUT THEN I THOUGHT IT WAS BAD FOR A BRIT TRYING TO WRITE BRONX EBONICS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TED BELL'S HAWKE BOOK #1 AND #3. NOW I AM GOING TO ORDER BOOK #2 WHICH I ASSUME WILL BE EQUALLY ENTERAINING.
Uranneavo
Very well developed story. Characters are rich and multidimensional. A quest on more then one level. I couldn't put it down.
Great read. Closure of parents demise was riveting. I have read all of Bell's books and I think this was one of his best works.
