Scoreboard Bleeding
At times, particularly early in the book, Huston's writing was uninspiring -- almost amateurish. But as things progressed he quickly revealed his writing chops and presented us with a compelling, riveting story that featured the impeachment of a president (for pacificism, no less), the trial of an admiral, and a day in the life of a Navy Seal Team. The best part of the book takes place in the courtroom as ex-congressional aide and inadvertent superlawyer Jim Dillon employs creative legal strategies to win his cases. Huston is a master of courtroom dialog and his characters -- at least the main ones -- are well-developed. This is a most enjoyable book, with a lot of intrigue and action. I look forward to reading more Huston.

Read the Balance of Power before Price of Power as it's basically part two. It usually takes me about 3 weeks to finish a book, sometimes longer. I read Balance and Price in less than two weeks. It's fast paced, and great story telling. The author is an former F14 pilot and a current attorney so adds both of his experiences in writing this engrossing book. Very entertaining, and reads like it is current rather than 15 years old.

I ordered both of Mr. Huston's books at the same time and started them just before Thanksgiving. After three days I had read them both, enjoyed them thoroughly and lost much sleep. It may be trite to say that he writes like Tom Clancy without the tedious technical explanations. It may also be a bit innacurrate as I enjoyed him more than TC. Huston is especially good with dialogue and these characters came alive for me. Clinton is lucky that Jim Dillon is a fictional character and not one of the Managers of Impeachment. I agree with the reader who would have liked to know more about the bad guy "George Washington". The characters in the book wanted to also as they realized the nature and extent of the armaments and techical equipment they possessed and asked the Butch Cassidy question: "Who are these guys"? I tend to agree that there will not be a three-peat...but you may recall that they could not i.d. GW, if that was in fact him who had his face blown off. In any event, if political/military/action novels are of interest to you, you could not do better than to read Mr. Huston. I am now a BIG fan!

Basically the book was boring. Too many characters unrelated to each other. The overall story was played out in dribs and drabs. Though political in nature the concepts became redundant. The few parts of the trial and the attack on the terrorists was too wordy. Would not recommend this book to those who enjoy action stories.

See my review for the prequel, "The Balance of Power". The two books together were outstanding.

Didn't want to put this book down. Huston knows how to write fiction and this one kept me in suspense all the way thru. He wrote this a couple of years ago, but it sounds similar to what is happening in our government today! Read it and you won't be disappointed.

Loved both of these books. Both Balance of Power and this sequel. Couldn’t put them down til finished. Hoping for more.
A true sign of idiots in D.C. and our Armed Forces. If this was real life, the Admirals career would have been ruined.
