The Eleventh Victim, from former prosecutor Nancy Grace, is a tense thriller depicting a battle of wits between a lawyer. The books plotline was good, but not delved into deeply enough and far too many "things" were left unclear and unfinished.

The characters in the book were not fleshed out and it seemed that before you could get to know them, the book had ended, without knowing clearly what had transpired. I'd hoped for a book that would grab you immediately and not let go until the climactic end, but I'm afraid that simply wasn't the case.

The Eleventh Victim, from former prosecutor Nancy Grace, is a tense thriller depicting a battle of wits between a lawyer, a serial killer, and the NYPD As a young psychology student, Hailey Dean's world explodes when Will, her fiancé, is murdered just weeks before their wedding. Reeling, she fights back the only way she knows how: In court, prosecuting violent crime...putting away the bad guys one rapist, doper, and killer at a time. But dedicating her life to justice takes a toll after years of trials and the endless tide of victims calling out from crime scene photos and autopsy tables. Just as she grows truly weary, a serial killer unlike any other she's encountered begins to stalk the city of Atlanta, targeting young prostitutes, each horrific murder bearing his own unique mark. This courtroom battle will be her last. Hailey heads for Manhattan to pick up the pieces of the life she had before Will's murder, training as a therapist. In a vibrant new world, she finally leaves her ghosts behind. But then her own clients are brutally murdered, one by one, by a copycat using the same M.O. as the Atlanta killer she hunted down years before. Hailey's own DNA is found at the crime scenes. As the body count rises across Manhattan, Hailey is forced to match wits not only with a killer, but with the famed NYPD. Unless she returns to her former life and solves the case, still more innocent people will die at the hands of a killer who plans to get her before she can get him!

I am pleasantly surprised about how well written is this book. That is a good start. The plot is well put together, suspense in tow.... some sub-plot, interesting. Nancy is able to show corruption among politician, police, investigators . Description of scenes, quite detailed. For those who know a bit about Nancy's past, it is inter-twined into this story. an addition. I would have liked a bit of humor but hey, I enjoyed the final twist a lot. Good thriller. looking forward to read her next book.

I was highly disappointed in the writing style of Ms. Grace. I'm hoping she's a better lawyer than an author.

I understand that this book was loosely based on Ms. Grace's true personal life story; that didn't make it any better, richer or more intriguing. The writing was choppy, seemed amateurish and she seemed to jump from one topic to another.

This review is for the Eleventh Victim, which continues on, if you will, into "Murder on the D-List," which I'm sorry to say, was no better than this book, and left even more unanswered questions. One would come to a reasonable "assumption" that items not addressed or resolved in the first book, would segue into book two and find closure. NOT! That didn't happen at all, and in fact, key individuals from book one weren't even mentioned in passing in book two, so all in all, you have a couple of "choppy" books that don't have closure or resolution, were lukewarm at best, and whose writing style really lacks. I felt offended that characters from one book weren't mentioned in the other book, when clearly book two was a "continuation," but it was if Ms. Grace figured the reader wasn't bright enough to have remembered characters from the first book.

I paid less than $5 for each book, and I'm sorry to say, in my opionion only, they're not worth the money spent, and I really wish I'd paid more attention to the written reviews that were 3 stars or less. They're accurate. Thank you for reading my review.

I was expecting the very best story possible from Nancy Grace: she has been there, she's been the victim and the advocate for victims (which gives her a unique insight), she is great with building up drama (she does it nightly on her show), and she loves plot twists (Bombshell!!!). She did not disappoint with this story. Her character Hailey Dean was clearly a strong depiction of herself, which would bother me with any other writer, but with Nancy Grace, it works very well - Nancy is such a dynamic person that it only makes sense to use her own personality (at least in part) as the main character of this book. The writing was crisp and flowed easily even though she could have gone overboard with legal speak (she is a genius when it comes to law).

All in all, this was an excellent first novel for Nancy Grace, and I expect her to continue with this character Hailey Dean for several more installments. There is great potential here! I give this novel 5 stars because I believe it has everything that is required for me to strongly recommend this book to everyone who is interested in suspense and drama.

Purchased this as a gift for my daughter who has just discovered the Nancy Grace podcast. She was pleased to start this series. The book arrived in pristine condition suitable for gifting.

When I tell you I wasn't expecting this ending and anyone who didn't give this book a 5 star rating has lost their mind (my opinion). From the beginning to the end every page was worth reading! A good book will have you captivated from the beginning to the end and have you feeling like you're a character. Hailey Dean did it again, even when her back was against the wall she came out like a raging bull. Kudos to Nancy Grace!

Nancy Grace again proves her multiple talents. She is an attorney, a television personality with influence and an acclompished author. The book starts out somewhat choppy but she has to include and identify and place many characters and this takes a lot of time and writing. But I can say that once I was past the first chapter I was getting good and hooked and could not put it down. There are crosses and doublecrosses and backstabbing and anything else political you can think off and these dirtbags have already thought of it. Sit down and read the book when you are sure of time without distraction for at least the first chapter and you will be hooked. Well worth the read.
