In 'Saint Overboard', a villain plans to steal a shipment of sunken treasure. Simon Templar will go to any lengths to stop him - even under the sea. 'The Saint Plays with Fire' sees our hero investigating a country house fire - and uncovering a Fascist conspiracy to seize power in France. Starring Paul Rhys as Simon Templar and with Patsy Kensit as Loretta and Fiona Fullerton as Valerie, these two thrilling dramas are full of the charm and verve of the original stories.

BBC Radio Crimes: The Saint: Saint Overboard & The Saint Plays with Fire. Narrated by: Paul Rhys, Patsy Kensit. A gripping collection of 15 BBC Radio full-cast dramas written by Bert Coules, inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original stories. These original adventures flesh out those unrecorded cases to wonderful effect. Clive Merrison plays the great sleuth himself, with Andrew Sachs in the role of Doctor Watson.

A little disappointing. Leslie Charteris wrote cleverly and wittily. I missed that in this adaptation.

The two stories were good, but with the limits of a CD; too short. I have read a lot of L Charteris's The Saint books and enjoyed them very much. Of course part of my favoritism is because he did quite a few scripts for the Sherlock Holmes radio program and SH has always been my favorite read for 50 years now.

I also have to admit that I enjoyed The Saint radio program with Vincent Price more than this. I know that LC didn't have a lot to do with it, but Simon Templar is smooth and urbane and Vincent seems to bring that across more than the BBC.
