Landscaping is Nina Quinn's business, but trouble seems to be her middle name. Saddled with a recently expelled, faithless local–cop husband, a teenaged terror of a stepson, and the yappiest, most unhousebreakable Chihuahua in captivity, Nina needs a respite –– and the backyard makeover she's undertaking for her sister Maria and Nate, Maria's fiance, may do the trick.

But, of course, Nate vanishes mysteriously, and Nina's gardening magic inadvertently turns up a corpse. And with a thief on the prowl who's preying on the neighborhood elderly, a suspicious Pandora's Box of a package arriving on her doorstep, and yet another body inconveniently turning up, Nina's going to have to dig into her community's dirtiest little secrets to regain her peace and sanity –– if she can manage to stay alive long enough to enjoy it.

I just finished rereading Trouble in Spades, the second book in Heather Webber's Nina Quinn series. Even though there is a huge TBR pile waiting for me, I sometimes feel the need to revisit an `oldie, but goodie'.

I love the characters in this series. Nina is one of my favorite amateur sleuths. She is an independent businesswoman who is strong on the outside, but a bit "mushy" on the inside. She is very, very likable. The secondary characters are wonderfully developed. They are such a fun group and contribute a great deal to the storyline. Ana, Kit, Mr. Cabrera, Tam, Brickhouse Krauss, and Riley--I love them all! (Ms. Webber even makes Kevin, the cheating husband, somewhat likable!!) They are truly an essential part of this series.

In Trouble in Spades, Nina is a very busy lady. She is juggling too many jobs with not enough help, is attempting to figure out the identity of a thief who is adept at breaking into homes in her neighborhood, is hoping to find her sister's missing fiancé (with help from the FBI), and is trying really, really hard to ignore her lingering feelings for her cheating spouse--and if that isn't enough, Nina is being pursued by a very handsome man.

Ms. Webber has written a very enjoyable cozy. It is filled with lovable characters, witty dialogue, and plenty of action that keeps you turning the pages. Simply put: This is a fun read. Give this series a try. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Happy reading!

I really enjoy this author's writing style. I'm totally hooked on this series......Nina, the main character, is put into some crazy, shady and compromising positions. The one thing I enjoy the most about this series, so far, is that Nina comes across to me as genuine and going through/living through real life situations.......as far as friendships, family, work and raising a teenager are concerned. I can relate to many of her challenges. There are so many laugh out loud moments......very enjoyable mystery.

Nina Quinn doesn't need to go looking for trouble....it will find her! Maria (Nina's sister) fiance doesn't come home from work. Nina realizes this is serious and she, of course, decides to find her future brother-in-law. I love the family dynamics in this series. They certainly aren't perfect, but they are believable. This is a very good mystery (actual 2 mysteries in l), fast paced, amusing and thoroughly entertaining. Can't wait to read more of these books.

I managed to finish this book in two days (quite a feat for me). It started off a little slow but the more time I invested in this book the better it became. If it wasn't the loveable characters, the great plot or the hilarious 1-liners then I don't know what it was! Ive read several other books by Webber / Blake before and like those, this is great cozy read.

The second installment of the Nina Quinn series brings us more mystery, humor, suspense, and family craziness. The story well paced, the mystery quite satisfying, and the characters just too much fun to miss. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to truly enjoy a romp of a cozy!

If you have read the first book in this series you will enjoy this one. The heroine is back with her witty sarcasm. She has a manipulative sister and a mother who never hears what she is saying -- I can relate! Only criticism is the short amount of time between heroine's previous encounter with a gun toting villain.

Heather Webber/Blake has been one of my favorite new authors. She makes you laugh out loud when reading. I have read all of her other series. I absolutely love them all for their characters. Nina Quinn is no different. She has a great group of characters and they have their own quirky personalities.
This series is very funny and finally has a heroine I can relate too! She is not a raving beauty, has an athletic build, likes to play in the dirt, and does not do makeup! Love Nina and her integrity! Cannot wait for more books to come out,
