Dead Man Running (A Tori O'Shea Mystery). Thicker Than Water (Torie O'Shea mystery). Died in the Wool by Rett MacPherson is further proof than an author can indeed start a series, create a number of works following the adventures and exploits of one individual, and still maintain the quality of the first book in said series. I have read eight Torie O'Shea Mysteries now, and to be honest, they just get better and better. As with most of her other works, the setting is in a small river town, south of St. Louis. In this story, our heroine gets involved in a triple suicide that occurred shortly after the First World War.

Dead Man Running - Rett MacPherson. If I, Torie O’Shea, were running for mayor, I would do it with a bit more aplomb. Just the fact that I can use the word aplomb shows that I would be better at the job than either one of them. One. I have come to the conclusion that boys are different from girls. Since I firmly believe I would win, I’m not running. My mother’s wrath is far worse than my stepfather’s.

This is a more energetic book than her others. Torie is in charge of the historical society, dealing with her kids, and trying to build a new house. She is dealing with the politics of a small town, and then she is asked to do genealogies on the 2 men running for mayor. As usual, you will learn a few things about researching a family tree and how politics can really complicate your life. There is still the usual mystery and how to solve it and some humor but a lot more about politics and power struggles in a small town. If you have ever had to move and/or build a house, you will find a lot to identify with here.

A lot of long winded talking, but great insight to the bumbling of law enforcement. Worth reading at least once.

Sort of drug out but a quick read.

She is the best mystery writer of her day. I've read all of her books. I've recommended her books to my friends.
I don't like snitches of any size, shape,or form. With that being said, I give this book four stars for literary quality, one star for subject.
I'm sure some of the stories told hold some truth. Ross Coulthart ( a journalist), and Duncan McNab( private investigator), had to do some research. I'm sure they looked at Police records.
I'm sure they talked to a few people. I'm equally sure most of what Steve Utah reported was slanted in his favor. This book is not a book about a motorcycle club. This is a book about a self admitted 'Meth' cook turned informer. In my opinion you can't trust a 'Tweeker'!
Ross and Duncan did a good job of putting together a book that chronicles the life of William John Hovey, aka Steve Utah. The Australian colloquialisms offer us an interesting read.
