This was a good book. I had to keep reading to see if Callahan would reconcile with her mother and extended family. She did persist until justice was done but received little cooperation from her family. This book was not as light hearted as some of the author's other books in this series. It is understandable because she was grieving the loss of her cousin and dealing with some of Atlanta's criminal population.

Hesitated to give it one star, it was readable but certainly not what I've come to expect from Mary Kay Andrews. The barely hidden racism stews together with a predictable and unexciting plot (sans any interesting characters) makes this one difficult to finish. I wasn't sure about this series, and I'm glad I only purchased the first two, rather than the whole series.

Callahan can't keep away from investigating her favorite cousins' brutal murder. Family can sure be hell. Then throw in that old time religion.

I tried to like this book but the plot was weak and the stereotypes were overwhelming. Nearly all of the African characters Han names thar obviously the author were appropriate. She needs to stick with writing about murder in the suburbs. Would not recommend.

I loved this book. It held my attention from the beginning. Being from Alabama it made it more interesting being set in Georgia. I am familiar with the parts of Atlanta the story is set in.
Trash Obsession
A witty clever chatter between Housemouse cleaning service and mystery in the South. The fun begans from the very beginning. I love the whole series of Kathy Hogan Trocheck's Callahan, an ex-cop now owner of Housemouse. She exchanges humor with her mother and boyfriend and gets into mystery situations. Its light fun reading. I wish Kathy would write more of this series, I loved all of them.
