Praise for Stuart Woods and Grass Roots. The Dallas Morning News. Superbly plotted, its dramatic events coming at breakneck speed and its momentum hurling the reader toward the toe-curling conclusion. Wood. s one of the best around at tense, fast-paced plotting. St. Petersburg Times. His prose style is fluid, his dialogue plentiful and excellent.

You, to. Please don’t misunderstand me, I don’t want you to put yourself in danger ll him to protect yourself, I would understand. Just like you were still a policeman. Nobody expects you to die. And just why do you think I can find Ferkerson when the whole department can’t? Because you’ve got motivation, my boy. It’s important, motivation-in business, in everything.

Simon and Schuster, 13 нояб. I love Staurt Woods as an arthor. All his books are great and this one is no different. In this breathtaking thriller from New York Times bestselling author Stuart Woods, attorney Will Lee returns to his southern roots-and gets involved in a political firestorm that could make or break his career. As a Georgia senator’s chief of staff, attorney Will Lee knows what it takes to run a successful political campaign.

I do not think that Stuart Woods has ever disappointed me. "Grassroots" is intricately plotted with absorbing parallel stories that work their way to the same bad guys.

Attorney Will Lee has returned to his roots to kick off his campaign for the Senate. I do not think that Stuart Woods has ever disappointed me. Mr. Woods writes in a way that makes the pages fly by. It's easy to pull for the good guys and it is impossible to work up any sympathy for the villains. The protagonist (Senatorial candidate Will Lee) is scheduled to reappear in Mr. Woods' next novel ("The Run").

Will Lee has returned to his roots to kick off his campaign for the Senate. A prominent lawyer, he has come back to his hometown of Delano, Georgia, to plan his strategies, and to argue an explosively controversial case that could seriously damage his fledgling political career. For Delano is a town with a dark secret -- a smoldering hotbed of racial hatred and moral outrage, held in the thrall of a sinister group called The Elect. Its violent, evil forces will stop at nothing to keep the candidate out of office. But Will Lee isn't about to back down, even though it may cost him his career -- and his life.

I continue to be entertained and spellbound by this author. Will Lee has decided to run for Senate, but only after a tragic illness on the part of his mentor and friend. The path is very reminiscent of present-day politics and the influence of moneyed and dastardly backers.
He has been thrust into the role of defense attorney days before he makes he decision to run, begrudgingly, for office. Once he has made that decision, he can't get out of the duty of defending a man of brutally killing a woman. The judge absolutely will not allow him to back out. Is the man innocent, as Will believes him to be? The twist during the court proceedings is a Perry Mason moment.
The influence of the Klan is still there, under the surface, and it has penetrated in places that should be above that.
His run for the Senate is fraught with innuendos and downright lies, not unlike modern-day politics, but he is above the fray and manages to squelch them by taking the smear tactics by the horns.
I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

For some inexplicable reason, I only recently discovered Stuart Woods. I've now read the first 4 books in the Will Lee series and enjoyed them all, but I'm not sure anything can top Chiefs, the first one. It won an Edgar and is one of the best novels I've ever read!
Grass Roots is well-written, has a good plot that advances Will Lee's personal and professional lives, but the bad guy characters were not as fully developed/believable as usual. It's still a great page Turner and I'm looking forward to the next one in the series.

Good story about a politician people can admire who has some human shortcomings. The main character, Will Lee, is a small town attorney who is charged with defending a man accused of murder while also running for the Georgia state senate. The accused seems like a good guy, but there are some surprises during the trial. The requisite bad guys keep things interesting. i enjoyed the book because it was a fun read without a lot of graphic violence (except for the shootings at the beginning, there was little violence). Will Lee is someone a person wants cheer on to victory. I look forward to reading future Will Lee novels.

I have read almost all of Woods' books. I recently thought they were becoming formulaistic. This one really beaks the pattern.

Woods has always reused characters across books. In this one, he goes back to the beginning of one of his characters foe a retrospective of Will Lee's run for senate. Three different stories are intertwined.

This is more than the simple mystery: Woods explores the time period and the values of the time in an interesting way. I am a Republican, but I enjoyed hearing the thoughts of his Democratic candidate.

I am a pilot, is is Woods. He likes to weave flying into his stories. He is very accurate in his flying scenes. It could happen! I believe his research into the legal and political side is probably as accurate.

Suddenly, I am awaiting his next book.

Author Woods has produced another excellent phase of this generational epic. The writing style has an easy flow and still full of intrigue . As a reader, I can relate to the lives portrayed in this story. I also like strong moral fiber displayed in the successful political character's behavior. Hopefully it may set an example for real political life.

I ENJOYED this book because it was a Stuart Woods book.
I felt that Will Lee was pictured as a weak character.
Too liberal, too trusting, Mr. Boy-next- door. The author's
Political opinions were very obvious in this book. Therefore, the Three star rating.
I purchased this because it was the first Will Lee and I had read others and found them slightly politically slanted (after all it must be, in order to write a political story), but this one was way out there.

All of the Stuart Woods books have provided me with a great deal of entertainment. Each is different but weaves in many of the same characters as they age and go through their lives. Some of the lesser characters recur here and there, making each book more interesting. Read them in order to keep up with the movement. Thoroughly enjoyable with many plots about places and matters that I otherwise might not have been overly interested in until reading them in these books. I keep tied for more from Mr. Woods.
I'd been away from Stuart Woods for a number of years, but glad I found him again. This is a very interesting read given what is going on in DC today. Unfortunately I jumped into the middle of this Will Lee series and want to go back and read the first two books of this series. This one kept my interest from start to finish and the ending was a big surprise for me. The story itself describes what is going on today in our nation's capital and gives an interesting insight into the down and dirty politics of the day. Will wait on the books following until I catch up to this one.
