Every book is different-even books written by the same author. This is my round-about way of explaining my first two books, the Joshua Thornton Mysteries, to readers. I started writing it in 1998. It was originally released in 2004, and named finalist in the mystery category for the Independent Publishers Book Award. The second book in the series, A Reunion to Die For, followed in 2007. Even though both A Small Case of Murder and A Reunion to Die For were critical successes, as I honed my writing skills, I came to realize they could be much better.

Matt Houston (TV Series). Just before he goes Emily Armour, the most successful writer at the convention is murdered by her publisher Wayne Slocumb (Richard Anderson) who is aided by an unseen accomplice. Since we know the publisher did the actual killing from the opening scene onward the mystery here is why and who helped him.

Murder mysteries, even the bad ones, are fun. It’s really easy to find a whole lot of badly written murder mystery novels . It’s really easy to find a whole lot of badly written murder mystery novels that are still great reads because you’re just dying to find out whodunnit. But finding those that actually stick with you long after reading them, the way any good novel does, can be a bit more complicated.

Very good book from an author unknown to me previously. I like her writing. Thanks to one of my Shelfari friends I discovered this book. Molly Patterson is the main character in this novel and a criminal justice professor. Her mother Katherine a famous mystery novelist is found dead from an injection of a heavy sedative. Molly is out to find the killer and has several suspects - one of which is an unpublished author who has been "stalking" her mother. Very intriguing twists and turns.

I ran across this book while searching my library catalog for “criminologist,” and must say I was happily surprised.
The story starts off with a mystery novelist found dead in her home by a close friend. Molly, her daughter, seeks to find the truth surrounding her mother’s death while struggling to keep her family together after her husband’s indiscretions. Many believe the death to be a suicide, including Molly, until evidence begins to arise of a stalker and motive from people close to her. As more people begin to die, Molly must hurry before she is next! I finished the story in one day, because it was easy to read and kept me guessing. There are several viable options when it comes to choosing the killer, and it unfolds perfectly as you continue reading.
The author of this story, Karen Hanson Stuyck, gives me hope that I may one day write a novel that will be published. I hope more will pick up her work, and give unknown authors a chance.
