I'm only 13 chapters into this book right now, and so far I am finding it a very good book.

Homicide Detective Peter Decker never wanted the perils of his job to touch his family. But now his two worlds have collided. A first year rookie with the LAPD's Hollywood Division, Cynthia Decker became a cop against her father, Peter Decker's, wishes

Homicide Detective Peter Decker never wanted the perils of his job to touch his family. A first year rookie with the LAPD's Hollywood Division, Cynthia Decker became a cop against her father, Peter Decker's, wishes. The signs are impossible to ignore: things being moved around in her apartment, the destruction of personal effects.

Faye Kellerman is the author of thirty-one novels, including twenty-two New York Times bestselling mysteries that feature the husband-and-wife team of Peter Decker and Rina Lazarus. She has also penned two bestselling short novels with her husband, New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Kellerman and teamed up with her daughter Aliza to co-write a young adult novel, Prism.

Rina Lazarus and her husband, LAPD Homicide Lt. Peter Decker, are shocked by an outrage that cuts close to the spiritual heart of their family. Rina's small storefront synagogue has been desecrated with anti-Semitic graffiti and grisly Nazi death camp photographs. The alleged perpetrator is seventeen year-old Ernesto Golding, a "rich kid" obsessed with haunting suspicions about the origins of his Polish paternal grandfather.

This is how Peter Decker and Rina Lazarus first made their public appearance. Jan and Peter had crossed paths in a local bar a few weeks after her arrest, but this time Decker was wearing civilian clothing. But to truly understand them, let’s look into their backgrounds. Both quickly decided that there were no hard feelings between them, and they struck up a conversation. Decker thought she was cute, and Jan was surprised that Decker wasn’t a cretin.

This was another wonderful book in the Decker/Lazarus series featuring vandalism against the Temple where Peter and Rina worship; the murder of four people; and a scheme by popular and well known "therapists" to help get the children of their wealthy clients into prime colleges. Mix all of this up with very real, complex and human characters and you have a book that you can't put down.

I finished this book early enough in the evening that I was able to buy the next in the series for my Kindle and began reading immediately. I am absolutely hooked on this series.

I love all the Decker/Lazarus novels and this one was no exception. The characters are always well developed, and the plots are believable unfolding at a steady pace. Personally, I especially enjoy the Judaism woven throughout all the books. I find it all fascinating. While it is not necessary to read the books in order, in fact I originally did not; I have now gone back and am rereading through in order. I believe it improves the experience.

I just love books. Not only are they good for reading, but sometimes they can straighten out an uneven table. Also you can use them in a stack on top of wrinkled papers to straighten them out. Sometimes they just look good on shelves, and can impress your friends. I remember when my kid brother used to sit on top of them in order to reach the dinner table. Ah the good old days...

Ms Kellerman writes a gripping story that sucks you in from the first page. I have now read 4 of her books in this series and everyone of them has been spellbinding. The crimes that she describes are often gruesome and finding who committed them entangles the reader in a large and fascinating web. Detective Decker and his wife Rima are both religious Jews although Peter Decker doesn't know that until he falls in love with Rima, and Ms Kellerman weaves this into the storm in a seamless way. I can't wait to start my next Dexter/Lazarus novel.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as I have all in the Decker/Lazarus series that I have read so far. Faye Kellerman has a unique way of story telling that is suspenseful and entertaining and factual, so it is believable. Looking forward to reading all books in this series. Love both Decker and Rina;s characters as well as Jacob. You can relate to the things he is going thru in his life and the reactions of his parents to it all.

Aklan J. Groveman,,,I have read most of Faye Kellerman's Books. The main character is Lt. of Detectives and jewish convert Peter Decker and his wife, orthodox jewish housewife Rina Lazarus and their newly joined family. They are all good stories and I enjoyed them all. "The Forgotten's premise is about how Decker and Lazarus's Jewish Temple is totally vandalized and what is done to catch the horrible people that did it. a good read!

Rina Lazarus-Decker's synagogue has Brent vandalized. Her husband Lt. Peter Decker's department is assigned to find out who was responsible. A teenager confesses he was guilty, but is there more to it? A hate group. A psychologist husband and wife with hidden agendas. Four murders. A search into the background of a possible Jewish death camp victim.
This novel introduces the reader to criminals and their recent transgressions that are a relative microcosm of an extraordinarily cruel and dehumanizing time in history, the Shoah. I believe Ms. Kellerman has made a well-intentioned effort to make the principle guilty party into a sympathetic individual in an otherwise enjoyable, exciting, action-filled story.
